My latest Class-A amp project - the Clamp-III
It is a simple power follower using LM317 as CCS and a IRF450 MosFet
Board - relays are for switching bias (1, 2, or 3A )
Initial testing - power is abt. 15W in 8 Ohm - PSU is C-L-C - 31V DC at the Amp-boards.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

the main feature of this modul is that the PCB of puffer caps is connected diretly to PCB of outputstage via plated brass rivet.
Pretty nice work, are they MOSFET output devices?
No, the output devices are 5 pairs MJW3281A/1302A, and their drivers can be SK1058/SJ162 or MJE15032/15033.
Phase Linear
Some great pics there! Noticed a rarely seen Phase linear in one of the pics! Have never been able to find one here in Australia, I heard they are very touchy when it comes to output transistors (and theres a lot of them to replace if one fails) Would anyone recommend them to compliment a vintage hi fi set up? they look great and very big, but don't know much about their reputation in terms of quality of sound etc...Cheers, Andy
