Well, guess I learned a bit from my self caused XA 252 problems, which just helped with PoP accident. Converted to dual mono
and in process had amp on floor, top off and unplugged. Used "magic wand" to discharge PS and kitty jumped in amp, saw look on my face
and jumped out. oh well curious kitty! unfortunately, he stomped Q1 Q2 with heat sink straight down, doing same to small three legged T item just above.
I straightened things out on those pieces, made sure legs not touching, but no joy from that channel.
Removed Q1-Q2 assembly, led and small T item. Tested them in Chinese gizmo, all testing fine. (BTW, this time did removals with iron and solder wick,
leaving them looking brand new). Replaced parts anyway, and all fired up fine! I know, spinning head emoji!
Gave more confidence to reassemble XA 252 board project!
Thanks for your support as usual,

Cats.....what are you going to do? I had a main coon that would jump on top of row of albums and scratch across them. It
would anger me at time. That cat has been gone for over30 years. If I could have her back for one week, I would pile them
all up in driveway and burn them!

One thing I notice, post repair, both channels that I am fairly sure didnt happen before with this amp. On turn off, few seconds goes by and the leds on board shut off. Now, ( I'm pretty sure) they turn off, then back on and off a time or two. Probably nothing, about to put in system and see if its something I can hear popping at all. If not, I suppose this is no big deal?
Thanks,

But - it doesn't matter, great that you have sound! Enjoy!
Second PoP on way, think I will try the SET variation with that one. It will be the first "SET" version I have done.
Still havent built a SIT amp and Ive got a couple pairs waiting.

She is tired, building so many amplifiers is exhausting... her head is in the box of shrink tubing

Mightiness,
I happened to receive four of these monstrous TDK/Epcos motor run capacitors, rated at 50 uF/450 VAC. Before I send them to OPLDF: are they suitable for use in a PSU (f.e. in that of the PoP), in parallel with the electrolytic capacitors?
Thanks in advance!

just be sure that they're motor run, and not motor start
then all good
overkill is ......... conditio sine qua non for veeeeery wide smile

I will have to try some of the motor runs in
my power supplies, haven't as of yet.
I will say, even before installing dual mono power supplies, single 250 VA Abel Lindberg and single power supply board only, it still sounded terrific!
Doubling up made it even better, naturally. I guess I better hunt up some motor runs. I believe I asked about them in the XA252 thread.
