hi George,
Thank you for your detail reply and encouraging words.
I had assembled most of the components for the Oscillator. The toughest part of the project would be to find time to carry out the actual construction....
but I will manage😎
I learnt a lot from forumromanum where you posted. (Although getting through the google translation is not easy and slow
..).
I have quit a collection of tubes to play with
, 250Vss, quasient current 35mA with peak 140mA is possible. I think 12B4 in Class A1 operation is suitable for this application, it is a TV defelction tube (like PL519). With another tube in front (such as 5842, 6688, C3M..etc). But 7W is too demanding... is this 7W only required briefly?
Thank you
Ken

George,
Very nice project!
I may have missed it, but how do you prevent or compensate for ozone generation?

Smell Ozon
This picture, times ago, shows means first attempt to suck off and blow into the free the exhaust gas.
Hello Paul,
the attempt succeeded, the smell is outside!
Two PC power pack exhausts!
Into a cardboard box built, four! Mtr. to long hose with 6cm D to the window out hung,
of the cardboard each five go! Mtr. long hose 2,5cm D at the Tweeter.
Does not look beautiful yet, but functioned perfectly.
Before the point still the remainder of a smoking cone which stands I for trying out to it still placed and ignited,
also away-sucked hat´s also still all this, noiseless. The sound
disturb not.
My wife approved, before was allowed now the loudspeakers her not in´s to living rooms.
The exhaust does not use times one Watt, two PC exhausts, plug power pack 12 V.
I naturally tilted and all around stopped the window up, am finally winter.
The hose comes with me then by the floor into the cellar and from there outside,
is not not much work in the comparison to the remainder.
To see is then also nearly nothing more, but that was the first attempt.
The second picture shows the function with perfumes and flame, one can see that it sucks.
Many greetings and smell-free,
George

Hi Ken,
You see on this pic the graph for G2,
It is possible up to 400V.
You know also the input impedance recognize and as it change,
therefor also You have to do a inverse feedback g2-B/BUT11, ore somewhere else.
And You see also that 9W, and 45W, it ist needed this high input!
With tube You get some problems, try this BUT, You find it in Amstrad-Sat-Recievers or some the same.
5A 450V. An AF-Transistor, a HF-part is not here necessary.
Greetings,
George

Hi George,
I am confident that your English is better then google translation😉
What do you think of these tube circuits?

(ignore the oscilator section)
Best wishes.

Hi Ken,
this cirquits based all on the Du Kane .
You see that the power-supply is about 117V!!!
And then a Doubling! OK! Then You have nearly 320 V!
NOT a doubling up to 600! This is made by Haumann and this is WRONG!
He dont understand to read right a cirquit, I think.
Also his cirquits are not as good as this work, You will find it out.
I told him, I writes to him, no Answer just one, he said:
"Yes, I have tried a quartz out and my flame becomes not the bigger!"???
The most boys they tried his cirquit they give up!
The rest have tweeters with less functions, small flame, noise, distortions, less loudness, so on.
His first free cirquit have no Transformers for anode-current.
Now he fears the public, and offered a cirquit which is bad as
Also this cirquits You´ve show me, I know this all, long times.
They all have the same cirquit, Haumann`s, wrong.
Also a university in germany, TU-Berlin, did his thing and made a big show.
These are all wrong players, ignorant, politicians, cheats.
Cause You build this heap of muck and You´ll become dissatisfied.
That is wat they all want, dissatisfied people, to drink an shut up!
Me not, I am otherwise! They can do me times.
Maybe YOU are not able to do it like the way I do,
but if You cannot do this, it is Your inability, but I think You´ll get it!
It is NOT the weakens of my cirquit!
It works wonderful, Frank Zappa just makes me mad.
but I think I am in one week well again.
This pic shows the DuKane. You will see the Power-supply, 117V! Directly at electricity mains!
Why probably ?

George,
The "line operated" circuits were common 5 decades ago.
They saved money, increased profits due to fewer parts.
They are no longer legal in most places.
Dangerous.
Galvanic isolation is required today.
Especially in Euro-world. 😉
Why does Frank Zappa make you angry??

Hi George,
I noticed the contradiction in the circuit and the values written. And I was completly confused by these circuits!!! 😕 😕
It is comforting to know that I didn't read the circuit wrongly😉
As a new student to electronics and audio hobby, My pure intention is to learn as much as possible before the actual construction. As you said, I would not want to end up with disatisfy result. Please bare with my ignorant.
Your work is unique, different from my research, particularly with the feedback capacitor and reflactor... even the spark is different!!! and 117dB!!! Admirable!!! I congratulate your success!
For now, I think I have a better understand of your oscilator. But I don't quite get it when you say the G2 takes upto 9W of modulation power!! I guess that is why you use a emitter follower for that extra driving current.
Best regards
Ken

Cause I´ve taken a wrong word!
He makes me moved, madly, err, besides, head-ill, Silver view,
yield kneels, thus pull in the brain, and Captn. Beef,
if I do listen to Frank can I thereby stop, that were madly,

but the people gets mp3

George,
very beautiful.
I will try to word to make it easy to translate to German for you.
A friend of mine is building a crystal locked plasma speaker.
he does not like the FM modulation and wants pure AM modulation.
he wants it to stay in the free use frequency in his area so he is not interfering if it radiates. Maximum bandwidth is + or - 30kHz from the carrier frequency you see.
I have told him about this thread, I expect he will be most interested. you two will be able to talk easily without translation.
I notice you use a small output coil, will a high Q coil be better or too narrow bandwidth?

Hello OzMikeH,
this is cause I want do this as small as possible.
Also I tried "bigger" coils, but the result ist this one.
Also to take silver(ag) everywher ist´s possible.
There are so few construction units that every resistor
of cables and contacts takes away achievement (power).
one must work as exactly as one can and has enough tolerance thereby it nevertheless become good can.
The screen around the coil should be distant from it at least so far like their diameter amounts to
I hope that I in approximately two weeks new pictures to show can
Best regards
George
with household-noise level I must turn back the thing because it me into the ears strike

This "blue point" makes 6db.
The art of construction also 6db.
This is the "Turbo"

Lansche speaker with Corona plasma tweeter

These speakers were shown at the 2007 CES. I read somewhere that they will have a price of US$45K per pair. I emailed the company to ask if the tweeters are sold separately. 😎

Hello javachip,
the costs for both of mine is 250$ max.
If You build it. 650 if I made it.
I have no time.

George,
The Lansche tweeter uses a horn to achieve sensitivity of 99 dB/1 watt, along with a high SPL. What are the sensitivity and maximum SPL of your tweeter? Can you design a horn for your tweeter? I think this would be difficult, because the corona discharge will be affected by the close proximity of the metal horn. I believe Acapella uses ceramic for the part of the horn close to the corona discharge, and also uses catalyst to eliminate ozone.
Also, what are the frequency range and recommended crossover for your tweeter? The Lansche has a range of 1.5 kHz to 150 kHz with a crossover of 2.5 kHz.
Thank you.
Ken

I think the horn performs several functions in a plasma tweeter:
1) Increase sensitivity and SPL at listening position.
2) Provides a heat sink. Red-hot, molten metal looks great in photographs, but is not a good idea in the living room.
3) Provides shielding to eliminate radio frequency interference. Circuitry also requires separate shielding.
4) Enables a catalyst to be placed near the plasma for elimination of ozone.
5) Encloses plasma within a barrier, to prevent burn injury.
Do you agree?
