madBrahmin guitar amp

This is another project of mine, I built it around 2011/12 and it has two channels with various mods (bright, additional gain stages etc.), effects loop, master volume, presence and I don't remember what else, plus potentiometers and sockets for easy biasing of output tubes. Don't have the pics of the box though. It's coated with a fluffy fabric that resembles Polish black-and-white cows and the name is a pun: "ma-dB-rahmin" and "mad brahmin", inspired by the two-headed cows from Fallout series.

Is the 6CG3 damper diode there as a B+ soft start element? Looks really good too btw!

Yep, soft start. I got the filament current capacity and it also serves as a RC filter stage.

Well, if that floats your boat, why not? On the other hand, if the blue LED overwhelms any light originating from the other tubes, such as the blue fluorescence from output tubes which I love (not sure the 6V6 does that anyway) then maybe not. But again, whatever floats your boat.

Definitely no blue glow from the 6V6 tubes, though I've red-plated many of them in my guitar amps.:D

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!

01a build

Hi all,

This is an 01a preamp build I've just finished. It's the Bartola valves recipe and I'm very happy with the sound. The only bit I might visit again at some point is maybe to add the source follower from Bartola. The chassis is a repurposed industrial case, nothing special there except that it's steel, and was big enough to get the transformers and choke well away from the audio lines. Shielded cable throughout and attention to grounding helped get it silent.

All credit goes to Ale Moglia and Rod Coleman for the filament supplies and gyrator and design and to the crew here who enable this habit!

:) Must agree the 6CG3 produces a very nice ramp up voltage on turn on . I am using a pair on a pre amp i am working on .

That's a purty pig there, drteming.

I've got a preamp design I'm thinking of revisiting with vintage VR tubes that glow beautifully. It is shamelessly about the look in my case, and is not likely to be my every day linestage as I shudder at the power I consume with my amps. That said, I don't use 500wpc amps to drive 86dB speakers. I'm more of a 1-3wpc guy with 90+dB speakers.

Great build looks good. The tranni stickers spoil it a little. What i do to remember which trannies, chokes etc. i used is to peel off them off and stick them under the chassis somewhere. Out of sight but if required i can look up tranni info.

I never noticed that, but once you pointed it out...I spent last evening going through my builds, peeling off all the transformer stickers and sticking them inside the bottom cover. Thanks for triggering a mini OCD episode.:D

Preamp RTP3 built in AliExpress Reisong models

Hi,
my fresh tube RTP3 line-preamp build, as posted at this tread:
https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/151733-vacuum-rtp3c-79.html#post6769085

It has started at January 2021, I have bought 2 Reisong preamps, so I used its case for build phono-preamp and finally line-preamp.
The Reisong model use Marantz7 circuit, which works very well itself, going to 200-250kHz bandwith, nevertheess I tend to go to the edge - now is simply better.
Pics shows units before and after :)
Now I finally play vinyl - tube phono - tube line - tube amps 15W SE... nice!
