Romicap
One ,,new,,amp for every day,Toshiba modified with 2 x ECC 83 and 2 x PE 06/40 N
(807) SE config. 2 x 15 W excellent sound
The circuit shows the 807's triode connected.
Must be a miracle; 15 watts triode connected more like 1.5 watts. Or have I misread the circuit?

I ran out of tip savers for my de-soldering tool and had to buy another bag of the things. 100 of them for the price of a tip that will last about the same amount of time as just one tip saver😀

What are those? Pieces of silicone tubing?

I haven't even owned a solder sucker for probably 20+ years. I just buy lots of desolder braid of various sizes 😀

Please excuse my lack of hi-end audio knowledge, but what purpose does a "CD Transport" serve?

It's basically the CD version of a turntable. It spins and reads the disk, but that's it. It spews the digital information to an external DAC (the CD version of a phono preamp 😉) where the digital info is actually converted to audio.

That's actually pretty interesting, I almost want to make one, but considering I only have about 5 CD's these days, it'd be sort of useless.
