I tried a bunch of different caps including some well burned in BG N 4.7uF ones (ie the unobtainium ones) and of all I tried the bennics sounded the best. Mind you I used the 1.5uF I think (what I had and was ok with my preamp input impedance).
They are big, but fit fine. Heres a pic of how they look in mine - excuse the mess you can do it a lot neater than this!!

In fact, now that I think about it, I'm using a pair of the same BG N caps as the output caps on my preamp. I must solder in another pair of the bennics in there and see do I get any change.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Well, I think RJM may well have a set of PCBs left and all the parts are available from mouser or digikey - if you want to go a little fancy on the ouput cap, you're looking at madisound for the bennic. Theres no huge cost advantage in going group buy, only it makes life easy and you get the PCBs!
A BOM is available back up the thread.

I agree there should be some sort of rec.diy-audio.group-buy.announce type of forum where this information can be posted.
However, given the present system, where do you expect this info to be found other than the relevant thread?

I figured that it was mostly people talking 'bout parts choices, and maybe some troubleshooting. I'm easily discouraged by the cost of one off pcbs, so if there were boards available I'd be interested in a set.
Hello rhysh,
I am interested in buying the kit too, can I still join ?
Emailing you failed.
I have Paypal, so I can pay fast!

I emailed yesterday afternoon, but no reply. Not a big deal though. I might just use olimex.
Now that I am waiting for the kits plus boards to come in I will be looking for a nice (not DIY sorry) enclosure for the boards and the power supply.
Any suggestions?
Being professionally involved in electronics I have access to many suppliers so I will start a search on my own anyway and will keep you guys posted.
The first one I ran into is Box Enclosures in the UK with their socalled BEX series (extruded aluminium with front and back panels)
Did not yet check if the standard sizes are very suitable yet.
