boy oh boy,
I'm really glad you decided to continue on with this project when there was a bump along the road. The paint is absolutely gorgeous. It's a shame that I probably won't ever get to hear your setup.
Gonna bookmark this thread 😉

Sheldon, David, Scott and sqlkev; Thanks for the comments.
As one sqlkev pointed out, these almost didn't get finished after a large setback due to the bass cabinets falling over and getting badly damaged. But a few friends on here pushed me to get back up and carry on, there's some truly great characters on these forums and I consider myself privledged to have met them online. Its a shame so many of us are so far apart, since we all could have had a get together.

"If you book it, they will come..."😀
Seriously, when you get them in and tweaked have a demo day. I'll turn up (weekends).

Party!
Seriously guys, it's about time we had a UK get together. Do any of you guys have a decent local venue we could use in the summer or autumn? We're not lucky enough to have huge houses like those Yanks!

Hey guys,
Its something that I've wanted to do for a while now, so I'm definitely up for it.
Another potential venue candidate:
I've got access to a pretty large building that belongs to a local charity that I do the accounts for. I could have it for a day on weekends or holidays FOC. There's a few rooms from a nice sized carpetted lounge to a concert hall with a big stage, its a live sounding room though because its all hard surfaces. There's also a large concreted open area to the rear of building. Best thing is that the building is detached and its a grade 2 listed building so the walls are around a foot and a half thick, you can certainly stretch the legs of a sound system here and nobody will complain 😉
I actually take my speakers here to do semi anechoic measurement on the open area to the rear. Kinda spookie though since it backs straight onto a graveyard! Wake the dead with bass?

These are Matts rather stunning floorstanders that I've been following the progress of. I'm excited to see how they turn out because even in this 'work in progress' stage they look rather special. I'm betting they sound superb too with the highly regarded SS and Seas drivers.
I'll get some pictures up of the cabinets with the sat in place. At the moment I'm pleased to say that my only troubles are deciding which colour screws to use to fasten the drivers in place. Sure is nice to have something completely trivial to worry about for a change 🙂
Black:

Or
Chrome:

I guess the black tries to hide the fact they're there in the first place and the chrome ones give a contrast and compliment to the silver baffle. I think the discrete black will probably go best.
Just to throw a spanner in the works, you could always use brass screws for a contrasting effect. 😉

Shinobiwan,
Unbelievably beautiful, I'm dumbstruck😀 😀 😀
Wish to see them in person some day......
Warm regards,

Another quick shot:
So very nearly done 🙂 Well one of them anyway, I shudder to think of all the spraying/finishing I still need to do on the last 🙁

Hey ShinOBIWAN, is that a BK electronics amplifier module I see in the background of that photo? 😉
Absolutely Superb! What I find really surpising is just how much depth the silver finish has - its stunning! 🙂
How does the baffle of the satellite attach to the main body? I can spot some silicone but i assume thats just to act as a gasket. I can't see any way of tigtening up bolts or screws. 😕

Hi Matt,
The baffle bolts onto the main enclosure body using 4 x 4" screws. These are were the fixing points are located. Doing it this way means I get to keep the baffles clean from screws and also remove the baffle to allow easy fitting of the awkward rear mounted ATC mid.
Another good point is that there is a sandwich of damping material between the bafle and the enclosure to help reduce colourations.

As you can see in this photo, the baffle is rather thick in places once its attached to the cabinet (5 x 18mm + 9mm = 4")

ahhh i understand now, i didnt realise you can take the bottom off- i couldnt work out how to tighten the screws as i knew there were no screws showing on the baffle. 🙂
