PCB for cascoded IXYS CCS (tube)

Updated schematics and unrouted board. I had to make it a bit larger to accomodate two separate bias supplies for the VCCS's. It would cost something like 0.25euro per each board so I tough it might be a good idea to include the extra parts.

There is still room for moving parts around before I start routing the tracks so please comment before I do that.

So we can populate the board as the classical cascoded CCS with IXTP01N100D or DN2540 in both T092 or TO220 cases and use it as anode load or cathode load or we can install the bias supplies and an external cap to make it a VCCS (DN2540 TO92 case required).

Hum ... I was thinking that maybe Q102* and Q202* (the optional FETs for the bias supply) should be IXTP01N100D to make the board more resilient to start-up voltage spikes (DN2540 failed in some circumstances).

Board is now 50x80 mm

This one looks so nice😎.

Some thoughts, that might not be correct thinking.:
1.There will in no way be needed something else than a TO92 in the bias supply.
2. DN2540 isn´t the best to use due to low S(IXYS even lower) at low Id so LND150 is the solution. But one must of course keep Id down.
3. R1 and R2 is not needed when using this bias supply but it could be an advantage if you want an even higher bias supply Zout.

I believe LND150 has even higher D-S breakup voltages ...

I usually make R1 and R2 very large (~Mohm) and add a small cap to create a slow RC cell and have a free slow turn on device. CCS' are abrupt at start-ups. I'll check if we have enough room for a lytic (quality really doesn't matter here).

Hi Gianluca,

I decide to use a diy board with the big heatsink so I remove my order from the list. Thanks for your effort.

Today is last day to pre-join the GB.

The price for the board (0.096" thick, 2oz copper, white silkscreen on black) including shipping to my address in USA will be 3.35$ each (~2.35euro). I am not sure I can have them shipped here in USA or to my address in Italy, in that case we need to add 20% for VAT. Manufacturer will be silvercircuits in Malaysia.

To the price of boards we need to add something for the mailing ... say 6-7$ for each person. I will prepare the xls file next week.
