I'm working on a build of the 'domesticated' Pass SLOB (from drawings as per this post - https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/300952-pass-baffle-help.html#post4922459 )
Is anyone able to confirm the bass speaker Nelson used in his build, I know it was the Eminence Definimax 4015 but there are two versions, the 4015LF and 4015ULF?
I believe it is the 4015ULF version but I'm seeking confirmation.
Cheers

Hello nautibuoy
I tried both, to my understanding, it is the LF. Sound is not that different, but LF Shows better result when measured (deeper bass). Now I have one spare ULF

Thank you HelmutHolz.
It looks as though I will use the Eminence Definimax 4015ULF anyway as the LF version appears to have been discontinued;
Blue Aran - The UK's no.1 Loudspeaker Component Stockist
The 4015ULF is on back order too!

Hi all!
Among the fullrange drivers that you tried, which are the most interesting in that SLOB version?
Cheers
Nothing wrong with AN. Not so exotic, but good performer, especially
compared to price.
I have an assortment of them, and they go well with a glass of Cabernet...

Papa has not released the original schemathics, so the only way to have a REAL B5 and not a presumed "clone" is to buy an used unit.

I use the Definimax woofers often, but I have also had good results with
the Delta and Beta versions. Minor differences for this application.
You can build the equivalent of a B5 with the LX-mini crossover board,
and I'm looking seriously at a more adjustable DIY version for this.
I have tried a lot of FR drivers - Lowther PM6a, Feastrex D9nf, Voxative,
SEAS, Moth, SAL, Fostex (all of them...), Audio Nirvana, Mark Audio, Pioneer,
Jordan, Goldwood....
The first three were my favorites, but the list is not in descending order
for quality.

I currently own the Pureaudio project Trio15 voxativ and was wondering whether the 6-24 will be a good replacement or as you suggested the LX-mini. I was thinking of the -6db/oct for both low and high pass cut at @~150 Hz

Thanks! 8" for Fostex and AN?![]()
and 6".
Of the Fostex I like the FE168EZ best. 🙂
I noticed Nelson didn't mention Tang Band. I went the route of Tang Band full range with Definimax woofers driven by a PassDIY F5 and Tandberg 3006a split by a B5. I used a miniDSP and Audacity to take measurements and then played with the B5 settings.
I really enjoy your open baffle design. What’s interesting is I noticed some flaws in recordings that I hadn’t noticed before. I haven’t played around yet to see if it was the switch to Class A in the F5 or if it was the switch to an active crossover in the B5 that helped identify the recording flaws. I want to say it was the B5 because I didn’t identify them prior to adding the B5 and I had used the F5 for a couple of years with a pair of Cantons.
Papa's SLOB is a new idea to me (I presently run LX521), but I love the pairing of the Cube Audio F8 and woofer... the concept is smaller, better WAF, easier to move, 4 channels of amplification, will work fine with lower wattage amps and easier crossover. In theory its everything I've been looking for, it's just a brilliant design.
Is Cube Audio F8 still the 'reference' driver, anything else come close?
Will it do 70-80dB without breaking a sweat (Like my LX521's)?
Are these the plans?
Listening to some voxativ ampeggios in a couple of weeks, so that should be interesting.
