Would it work with my Dunlavy SC-II's? (If not I'll have a good excuse to build something.

I (EDIT don't EDIT) think so. The SC-II's seem to want a lot of power and control.

the schematics will go online - and the rest of the power-jfets will be distributed amongst us DIYers

I have additional versions of the DIY JFET in the works as sequels,
and you guys are just gonna have to pony up for a group buy.
Surely you can come up with $900 between you.

NP,

It looks like the F3 is Cascode Modulated, has the regular CCS and is supply voltage regulated(with the third mosfet?).

Mr. Pass,

The F3 manual just answered my post above...Thanks!

Cascode Modulated: page 6, paragraph 5
CCS (is a given in Pass circuits): page 7 circuit
PS Regulated: page 9, paragraph 2

From the pictures of the JFETS in the F3 it looks like they have a TO-247 type case?
I thought they had a different case factor...

Every e-mail i've sent to Lovoltech has gone unanswered... who
does one contact about placing an order?

I was thinking maybe it would be easier to just place the minimum
order and then sell to those interested.

Recent complications in group buys makes me wary, but i have
the time to do this if it seems do-able.

The case is an "I pack" which looks like a fat TO-92 with some
metal surface and three short leads. It's kind of a compromise
between surface mount and older packaging.

As far as buying from Lovoltech, just place the order and send
them the money - they aren't used to dealing with consumers,
but they have been responsive in terms of actually shipping
product, and I don't think you'll have any problems.

Hello M,

I'd be interested in 50 - 100 Lovoltechs, or a couple of tubes if they come in the usual tube packages (if they are at around $1 this should be ca. $100 plus shipping). And I would off course be willing to put the money up front before the order is placed.

Power JFET = Powerful Justification For Eliminating Triodes

Finally here's the yummy review of the F3:

http://6moons.com/audioreviews/firstwatt4/f3_3.html

"Its ability to properly render a transient edge without softening but simultaneously, also without sounding edgy, brutal, hyped, forced or unnatural, is real trick. It means precision without mechanicalness, rhythm without drag or pushiness, music with life and energy but no artificial heightening. All of the above is true and factual. Yet comparing the words to actually listening to the JFET amp still has the descriptions fall well short." -6moons

Grey,

The reviewer actually liked it very much he kept the review sample.

"Yet comparing the words to actually listening to the JFET amp still has the descriptions fall well short." -his words cannot described how well the Jfet sounded.
