It's actually surprisingly good, 0.1mv Input offset due to aging on input stage parts, the caps on the shunt are toast, 16v parts seeing 18v and 25v, the esr on a couple of them was several ohms...
The 16v rating on parts seeing between 18v-25v ain't exactly helping...
I tend to solder the 10/100uf caps by the heatsink under the boards.
That said I do know one guy who had his plugged in and turned on 24/7 for five years before the caps fried, it was a low -current build though, 10ohms. Well ventilated though.

Hi Simon
any reason to not use 2SK170 regulator in the input stage , there are few parts missing on the photo you’ve posted or these weren’t populated yet ?
Good idea about soldering electrolytic caps underside btw

Got a Paradise in today for service and upgrade, one of the local supply rail caps is loose on its pins, perfectly soldered, just wobbling away. It's a Panasonic FC, I've never seen this before in any circuit I've worked on. Mouser sourced parts...
Anyone ever seen a similar failure?

I have seen such after an electrolytic has been pulled and then pushed back in a failed removal attempt.
Yeh, that was a weird failure, all replaced and updated.

I've just printed another bunch of transistor housings, if anyone wants a set pm me your address. As usual no charge, just pay it forward.
...and I have a few of Calvin's PCB.
If you need a pair please PM. They are free to UK residents. Also I have three boards built (by another member...same applies.
First come first served!! Please give name and address.

Brianco, built calvins or main boards? Ether way I'll take a pair. Let me know what you'd like in return.
Thanks Simon,
I'll get them in the post on Monday. Nothing needed other than a decent high mass tonearm - a Wheaton would do....😀
just pulling your leg.
Nothing is needed as I sadly cannot do any more building due to a hand tremor.

If you've got anything that needs populating just let me know, always happy to build stuff up for people.
Simon, do you have any idea how many "Paradise" sets are sold or built.
I have no clue about the number and am not sure about the iterations.
I built a few and managed to make some run (not working from first
adopters or even contributors to the original work due to circumstances).
I am also not sure this is a hot topic any more - how many unfinished
builds need a final set up or modification ..

Well I've built or completed 52... maybe a dozen of those were none functional, raised from the dead.
The first group buy was 200 boards. I think the second was 100, there was a bunch of rev1 boards for testing and there was two later group buys with mods on the boards, not sure how many they ran to.
I've got three sets left.

The total number of builds was 700 boards, so 350 stereo phono stages. If all of them were actually finished (and I think more than 70% of them are, judging by the questions that reached me), it might just be the most successful phono of this complexity 😀
