Panasonic terminates its TV business

$6, you put coffee powder in the top cup, add boiling hot water, and the coffee collects in the lower cup, which is decoction.
No controls, or fancy power connections, unless you use electricity to boil the water.
No scaling problems, or mould etc.
Wash with soapy water after use, rinse, and use later.

Also the South Indian Filter Coffee method.
Instant is nowhere in strength.
Like comparing a cigar and a cigarette, for those who have smoked.
Or you get the idea, moderators please see if any action needed, for mentioning smoking.

Good method but no paper filter? So debri in the cup and in the body. Also the need to consume the decoction (had to look that one up, we just call it coffee when it's good and sewage water when it's not) almost directly. Sometimes things are too simple 🙂

Tea Time | Tea Shop Tiruppur ramanas hotel South Indian Street Food | cha | Milk tea | Filter coffee - YouTube

In South India, milk, water and sugar are in a separate vessel, continuously simmering at the tea stall or counter.
For tea, coffee, or Badam (almond) milk, the tea liquor (black boiled tea), (or) coffee decoction, (or) Badam milk powder is added to the cup, and the hot milky water is poured in. That's it.

The two decoctions are also continuously simmering in separate smaller vessels. Or in insulated vessels with a tap at the bottom.

In some places, sugar is put first, so you can ask for low or less sugar.

$100s for a coffee maker?
You guys are so environmentally unfriendly!
Just kidding...

Yes simplicity always wins but one needs natural gas to heat that one and make sure not to use an aluminum one (to avoid premature dementia). Aluminium has been banned for many many years in electric coffee makers for a good reason. I had a stainless steel one that worked quite well until I obtained an induction stove.

I just brought the automatic coffee maker to recycling where one of the employees looked and said:"that must be a Philips Saeco as these come in a lot" 🙂

4 a day for me and 2 for my wife

Wow - I struggle to keep it to two - a morning and noon / afternoon. Been trying tea in the after, but it's a weak substitute.

When I was employed at Intel, they had a fully automatic latte machine - free - and I guzzled down far too much heated cow-milk during the last couple years there. I didnt realize the health hazard of having so much mucous taken in daily. I switched to plant based milks and never looked back. I hope that was an improvement, though the sugars...

I use a "Starbucks" espresso machine. I get them all used. I have the daily driver and two on deck; both sitting in the garage for a few years now - seems I just cant kill the daily driver unit; things are built like a brick house. Mods?

Yeah, but not closed loop control of the water temp or anything like that. I hogged out all the plastic, valving and brass base of the portafilter to make it into the so-called "naked" style. I had to modify my consumer appliance grinder (blow out the stops) to grind super-fine, to match the modified porta's requirement.

That's about the limit of my coffee connoisseur-ship. I use whatever whole beans I can find, that are on sale at the local "Grocery Outlet". I keep two, sometimes 3 bags ahead in the freezer -

It's a shame though, that Panasonic is moving away from it's own TV business.
Thankfully I got my living room LED flatscreen set in 2014, and pretty much know it'll last for a long time.
That company always made some great products over the decades, including Technics products, plus I've got several 1970's vintage radios that still look and work like new.
Even a 1960's Panasonic "vacuum tube" tabletop AM/FM that sound great.

After decades of doing service at the shop, I saw the value in that brand compared to others, so naturally a guy like me is going to buy nothing else.

Excellent way to make coffee!

You can also buy the coffeemakers that go on the stove. You add grinds in the top, fill the bottom with water - it takes about 3 minutes on a gas stove. The coffee that comes out is like rocket fuel - one or two of those before 8 am and you're ready for anything. I have one in the bottom of my cupboard - I am too lazy with the DeLonghi although it make a good espresso also. I just do two of those in quick succession.

As a simple (but gifted) Child of Ten, I would frequently sneak through the Fire-Exit (using my Boy Scout Pen-Knife of course) of the Local Gaumont Cinema.

There I discovered "Art-Cinema". "La Dolce Vita" (The Sweet Life) by Fellini. 😀

Certain grown-up nuance was denied my 10-y-o Childish Brain, but I decided that if I had the Good Looks of Marcel Mastroanni, and the gift of the gab in Italian, I was sure to have a lively encounter in the Trevi Fountain with voluptuous Anita Ekberg, who curiously reminded me of Mummy.

I was determined to explore the huge consumption of cigarettes, coffee and alcohol that the art cinema seemed to offer. Along with interesting Women, which at my age were an unknown quantity.

"Not many people know this", as my old friend Michael Caine is fond of saying, but the best start to the day is a breakfast of Coffee and Ciggies with the MAGIC ingredient. I leave you to draw your own conclusions, being Mindful of Moderation in All Things.

My sober advice is to drink your Coffee strong. Leaves more room in the cup for other more interesting things.

Bitter oranges or jam on toat and black unsung sugared coffee seperate please!!

Hmm....
I read that...... "Camembert de Normandie"..."This cheese is illegal not only in the U.S., but also in the entire European Union"

Hello,
My Panasonic plasma is still working after being used for 8 years now. It just had one tiny problem which i could fix myself.
Hope it will last a few years more. As far as i could see build quality is good at least much better than models available now.
Probably it will be hard to find a recently manufactured screen that will work for a decade or more. While with oled they could make one that will work for 2 decades. When using long life caps and take care that the power supply is made to work for a 50 % higher load it would not be that difficult.
BUT as written many times the manufactures want you to come back to buy a new one pretty soon. AND if you are willing to spend a few hundred Euros extra it will only give you a better image but lifetime will be the same.
The local electronic shop said if you dont pay 2000 but 3000 Euros for the latest tv picture quality is better but will stand want you to come back.
Coffee machines is even more tricky. I use a simple but good quality drip coffee machine and have a vintage coffee bean grinder attached to the kitchen wall. Every two/three weeks i get new beans and try different ones regularly. I dont want a espresso machine that needs cleaning/maintenance like a vintage motorbike. Many people buy one to impress the neighbours and then get the coffee from the supermarket so they end up with mediocre taste but their mindset is biased when they look at their machine.
Very similar to our hobby!!!
greetings, eduard
