I am making an external PSU, designed to be modular and power various Pass/Firstwatt designs, (to begin it will be my F6 and an Aleph J) and am using 4-Pole Speakon plugs for the power umbilical.
As recommended by ZenMod I used the 8 pin Nuetrik on my F5 Turbo V2/3 build. They work really well and are easy to wire.
says this on Neutric spec sheet...I suppose we can just ignore that
speakON is NOT to be used as an AC mains or power supply connector!
yeah, they will work, ofcourse
and they are probably no good for hifi speakers anyway 😀

Anyway, I think we are talking about using it as a low-voltage DC PSU umbilical.

btw, when I mount/insert/plug my SpeakerCON connector to my bass speaker, its not a really tight fit
it wiggles a bit if you move it from side to side
what happens inside the chasssis plug I do not know
does not appear to affect speaker signal in any way
but is it 100% safe for a DC power supply ?
is it ok that it moves when touching it mounted ?

cant be...they all use same plug type 😛
anyway...there are also wire to wire connectors
INHO using any kind of connector usually refered to a certain duty another way is a bad choice.
If you never intend to sell the amp ok ,but if things can go wrong.......
The 8 pole speakon is nice but costs more then the cheapskate in me wants to pay 😱.
When i see people using XLR and din plugs for power on an audio amp i see an accident waiting to happen.
Hopefully only equipment will be hurt !

Connectors as shown in posts 13 and 23 are all common on military and very expensive pro electronics. They come in poles from 2 and upwards, - the most I've used was 60, pin gauges from tiny to BIG. Multi DC, AC, mixed, even combined normal pins and coax.... standard, water proof, gas proof, - pick your choice......and price. Available surplus and brand new.
Makers are Amphenol Cannon, Souriau etc etc. and then there is also the Hartin Han series......
I wouldn't use D-sub's for currents about 1A and upwards....
