Seas Noferro 900 = H1025 = 27TF1 and is available from stock at here:

Is it still in production? I can't find it at the Seas website.
Seas H0831-27TFF and Seas H0881-27TFF can be fixed also to the Visaton WG. As far as I can see, I am not experienced in that.
They look compatible with the Seas Noferro-900, same faceplate.
Comparing the two, H0831 is 1 dB more sensitive, 92 versus 91 dB, but H0831 has a higher fs, 1200 versus 550 Hz.

Polar battle...
Compare this 18Sound XT1086 horn to those small waveguides. Better match with 8" mid in my eyes and practically perfect behaviour (quite a lot of smoothing though)

That's a cool idea... I have no clue about 3D printing though.
Yeah that would be nice 🙂 I ll have some free time tonight to look into this.
Pcgab:
How about your large IEC baffle? Are you gonna install one 🙂?
Sorry for late response, I've been on vacation for the last week. 😀
I can make one if need be.
Aatto, pm/email me if you want to connect and do some measuring on an IEC baffle. We will need to coordinate a bit, but shouldn't be too difficult.
what if we mount TD8M behing the baffle ?
the baffle is about 30mm, this way woofer/mid and cd+Seos 10 or STH100 (about 80mm deep) would be almost aligned. but I m not sure how a 30mm deep baffle would effect the directivity of TD98M tho. maybe chamfer the front edge around the TD8M?

hi Gable, and welcome back, I'll send you email tonight 😉

Hi Gable,
Hopefully it has been a nice vacation. 🙂
It should be very nice, if you should install an IEC baffle. Very welcome for this project and also for you for later projects. You will have all my support.
It is very interesting to measure the drivers separately from the cabinet, without the bafflestep and the diffractions. Also for the evaluation of a waveguide, to measure DI on a large baffle, without the influence of the cabinet. And to make infinite baffle driver responses of your own drivers.
Concerning the proposal to place the midrange deeper, also mentioned again by Aatto.
I thougth about this, maybe it can be done, but I have some doubts about directivity that will become higher. For the acoustic alignment it is a good solution.
If you have the IEC baffle installed, you can measure the AE TD8M on the front and the backside of the baffle and compare on and off axis measurements.
I made a simple sketch how to make the baffle. Placing the driver at the backside, a little waveguide is created at the front side and will have impact on the directivity, I expect that.

I can easily make an additional insert for the IEC to test the td8m front mount, flush mount, and rear mount.
I'll do a few quick tests of some round-over and chamfer bits on some scrap beforehand to determine how well it could work.

I agree. One of my upcoming builds involves using one of these, an 18Sound CD and an 8 and 15. Very simple early tests look excellent. It's even larger than the JBL WG I suggested, so I didn't mention this one.Polar battle...

Also look at the JBL polars posted in a nearby post; it's even better.
I tried to scale up the WG148 to 8 inches and the depth is now 35mm.
this is the closest I could trace to the visaton drawing. not sure how the scaling would effect it, the throat is also 45mm now.
I am in touch with augerpro from the Open Source Waveguide for 3D printing thread. He agreed to take a look at my Scan R2904 and to design a waveguide for it. The result should be a file we can send to a 3D printer or a CNC machine (or an online service), which makes the waveguide. Let's see how this turns out.
SB Acoustics have an 170mm wg made for their beryllium tweeters wich geometry the MAY make available as open source. Could be worth investigating even though it's a bit on the small side.

Yeah, TBH I do not think scaling would work, this is close to original profile but slightest change may effect the sound a lot, it might be an interesting experience but maybe for later 😉

Jonasz, I couldn't find any information on this, do you have a link ?
I gave this some thought for past day or two, a dome+WG would have been my first choice but since we do not have an easily available and ready option, and designing and prototyping one would take some time, and since I m making the purchases and building this, I decided to go with CD+Horn, this can be a fun experience and proove me wrong that horns sound honky.
I m going with Faital Pro HF107 or HF10AK with STH100 for the horn.
With any of the discussed options we cannot meet the criteria for AC alignied design anyways. Hope to have your support.

Try this one Strassacker: Speaker Building, Components
SBA Satori tweeters would fit that throat diameter. Faceplate would have to be removed.
I have 1pair of Jantzen WGs, I would like to try new Satori dome with that.

yeah I had the saturi in mind when i did that, and i can do the face plate any shape. I may do some experience with it one day 🙂
