@Salas I feel that the plastic "support" belongs somewhere on the metal plate on which the motors are mounted ....

@Salas ... Haven't tried recording yet as I only have 2 cassettes with content I cannot erase. This deck belonged to me. I think I bought it somewhere late 1989 or something. I remember it was one of the best available at that time. As I have no use for it really I will probably sell it.

The SM of TA-2600 shows no other piece that looks like this part. Having repaired an old Hitachi deck, 70s era, when I tried locating the SM of the mechanism. Yours is the NDM-16 and unfortunately I couldn't locate any papers about it.
It seems like kind of support for the mechanism

@savvas Exactly ! That's it. The 2 pieces on the picture are present in mine. Probably the plate with the motors is missing one piece somewhere else. Will have a good look again where it could be missing.
