Probably synthesized today but some band still uses the "real stuff". The "real stuff" is best:

My Dad had one that he built himself from a kit. That was diy audio before we had diyAudio ... 😀
I was quite young then, I just remember that the kit had lots of switches and slider pots, and involved a lot of soldering ... 🙂
