Hmmm, that sounds a bit complicated and involves a lot of shipping. Costs for shipping and customs might get higher than the parts costs. It would be a lot easier and more cost efficient if there was a possibility to get parts directly without going through testers and forwarders on the different continents / zones.

Are we voting on an operating point for matching, or does woofertester plan to curvetrace and match all of these?

Assuming a single operating point, my vote would be for ZM’s SissySIT specs.

I’m also fine if no matching is done.

My preference is for Mr. Pass to decide on an operating point and match for that operating point. This is how I did the group project for the LU1014D. I matched for the operating point of the First Watt F3. The matched pairs of the LU1014D power up matching and operate at temperature as matched pairs. Curve tracing to obtain matched pairs from a population of hundreds will be unwieldy/impossible.

If there’s enough interest from people who don’t require matching, I’d be happy to handle that distribution. I imagine many will want matched parts, but I don’t necessarily need it and I can’t be the only one. Of course, I’m also happy to fall in line and just go with the flow.

It will be more work to send unmatched parts to you. Also, the larger the population, the better the matched pairs become. I witnessed this as I worked through the population of LU1014D from the Pass stash. The first large handful had a wide spread. Once enough parts were characterized, all parts had a matched partner. At a certain point, a few matched quads appeared.

If there is to be mass matching (assuming Nelson’s ideas aren’t antithetical to matching), I can send my meager 10 devices to the matching entity to expand the sample size a bit, and offer a donation to get some back.

However, my devices are obviously used and pulled from service, so they may be out of bounds for this group effort.

Regardless, I’m interested in what comes of this project!

My request was transcribed as 4.

Actually, my original post asked for 4-8 pieces assuming it was possible to get as many as 8.

If the extra 4 units are available I’d still love to get my hands on them.
