Hello Greedy friends,

Found something interesting today. Ill refrain from making any wild claims here, it may just be a wild goose chase gone international.

Anyways, was looking at the old Tokin catalog, and it mentioned the TKS17R52.

Well opened up the browser and did some googling.

Here’s what I found:

There is a link to a Chinese supplier who claims to have 14500 in stock.

Furthermore, I made a quick search on Naver (Korean Search Engine) and there appears to be 3x suppliers, who claim to have stock of the TKS17R52.

Now, this is just a google of the part number, so it really means nothing. However, I thought I would share in the hopes that someone who either speaks Chinese or Korean can inquire further. I speak neither!

To reiterate, I am not sure if these are the TSK17R52 TOKIN parts or something else!

I added it to this thread since its the only thread other than a thread from 2006 that mentions the TKS17R52.

Cheers!

Jose

Thanks for sharing Jose.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that some members who speak mandarin or Korean can help out with the buying process.

I’ve tried using the web site on-line translator from Google but didn’t work well enough for me to understand the foreign languages.

Yeah, same here! For the Chinese site. I was able to get the name below.

Chinese:

Airrun (Hong Kong) Electronics Co., Ltd. Gold member for 12 years

Korean:
First two links appear to be the same supplier. Found phone and email.

Email sales@donghyun21.com

Electronic components phone/text inquiry 010-6234-6103

Here is the email for the second one.

Email address: zpsyddk1@naver.com

Best,
Jose

Ps: I saw at least to South Korean members on the Zenductor thread. @namghiwook and @byongho

Perhaps they can assist with the Korean suppliers!

The translation of the text below the device is something along the lines of:

“Newly developed for CRT horizontal deflection amplification. Operates with low loss at frequencies over 100 kHz, which is difficult for BJTs.”

I would not trust anything that came from DZSC. YMMV. If someone did get them, I'd definitely send a few to Matthias (or someone) for proper characterization / authenticity check. My experience has been that places like this that list inventory for "spot price" buying have not been reliable. This company specifically and one other have been a tremendous waste of my time. I hope someone has a different experience to my own.

The Korean sites do not list inventory for the '17'.

If someone wants to give it a try... It's always nice to find a trove of sought after parts. Don't want to be a wet blanket. It would be exciting to find an authentic source => fun circuit(s) to try.

Hey Pat,

I absolutely agree with you on all points, and appreciate your wisdom. You and everyone in this forum have been doing this a lot longer than I have.

I’ve had some frustration with sourcing used/NOS parts. I have never, knock on wood, been burned from buying fakes. However, I know people who have and that absolutely sucks.

With that being said, I did mention in my post that this could be a wild goose chase gone international!

I believe that is where we are at this point. Greedy boys going to do greedy boys thing. I certainly do not intend to waste people time. Be skeptical until more data is available.

So I want to ensure some expectation management on the state of affairs. I found 3x vendors, 2 Korean, 1 Chinese, who have according to information on their website, a match of a part number, which was listed in the Tokin catalog, aka TKS17R52.

Until there is additional information. That is all there is to this. Follow along if you wish!

Pat,
Here is a screen shot of the listings for the Korean site.

Hi

I have requested a quote for 10 Tokin for the 2 provided above emails, I’ll keep you posted if they reply.

When I saw their introduction page the list seems to be an automatically generated parts list, and they do not have them in stock and seems to search other sites to see if they are in stock when a request is made.
➀ First, research the domestic market.
➁ After checking Asian markets such as China, Taiwan, and Japan, we additionally check the United States and Europe.
➂ We only quote on the condition of 100% quality guarantee.

Anyway, I will try to contact them on Monday and let you know the results.
