some forethought would have avoided the import duty. 2 separate orders in 2 peoples name, as shipping is free from mouser on any order over 200aud. i never get stung it seems, even with orders several grand from any of my suppliers, perhaps because most are orders from the US and they are generally materials for production of product for export.
Yep, simply moving all of the low noise/gain resistor kits, DPDT switches and 50V 2.2uF caps (total of about 12 lines) to a separate order would create 2 orders under $1000 and obviate the need for import duty. Unfortunately we're only working with hindsight now.
DDW,
Please note that I did not pay for the extra batteries. If you find out that the shipment is ok, please advice how to pay.

@ Sqveak - 16 7152516 091 (Need to confirm how many batteries you want)
Just got an email from BF with the rest of the addresses so the rest of the kits will be going out click and send today before i head up the river.
To the guys who have sent messages I haven't answered, I ask for your patience until I can get to it tonight, today will be juggling a 1 and 3 year old who love typing with Daddy on the computer and making sure I get all your stuff right!
Cheers

Noting that the order was parts for ~30 people, it would have been reasonable to have several orders. Hmmm... life lessons for some.
[D] If anyone is able to post/PM me info on amount that they've paid and separate the amount that they gave in extra 'tips' to BF that may help track what's gone on.
I paid $175 total. $5 of that was a tip. So the $170 in the spreadsheet is accurate for me.
If the amount doesn't add up it's because I rounded up a little to round out the figures when I paid him.

excellent work DDW!!! given you checked the kits and packed; it seems you accomplished a large part of the job in less than a week lol, given you had some help and some of the leg work was done already, but kudos to you!!
BF did a great job bagging things up, I just hope that's been done right and there aren't too many surprises when people go to build their kits.
Now to sort out the $$$

hmm, so after tye first kit you unpacked had glaring errors you didnt check them all? i assumed you did
Only big picture as stated previously (number of pcb's, batteries, and enclosures) which is how I picked the glaring errors. Had to put extra pcbs and batteries in the final lot I checked today. What I meant by my comment was there are 3 resistors in a bag and there should be 4.
I didn't sign up to do the whole group buy QA check, just the gross error unf**k of things to get people what they paid for.

Given the mammoth task ddw has already undertaken, it would seem reasonable that everyone check their own order when it arrives, and report any errors ASAP.

I finished building mine a few day ago, but I only put the scope on it today. I'm currently running the default gain and can confirm that the default gain is fine for me. I put the scope on it and running the amp flat out, not a hint of clipping in low gain mode. In high gain mode, there was a small amount of clipping from about 4 o'clock on the pot.
There is no doubt that this is a very capable amp; not just as a transportable, but also as a desktop equivalent. Hopefully, everyone gets their kits and get to hear for themselves soon.

Glad it sounds good and compares to a M3, I have been looking at that for a while after building a mini 3 which kicked the whole DIY thing off after making the step with etymotic er-4p's. I also like the decware kit which doesn't seem to have much of a following. A bottlehead kit might be next.
The Decware gear reviews well, but it doesn't seem to have a vocal following.
I've been eyeing off a bottlehead crack for a while now.
I'm starting to thing that the O2 is all the headphone amp that I need, but let's face it. It's not about needs...is it...lol

hey its all good man, not whining, I dont even have a kit; i just misunderstood. sounds like you did all (more) that could reasonably be expected, any screwups and we know where the blame lays. heres hoping its pretty uneventful

@qusp - it's all good, just frustrating however BF was way out of his depth. We all learnt for the next time to ask the question of who organises a group buy - what do you do for a crust, have you done this thing before, what about import duty/gst, what's your back up plan should....
Live and learn!!

Thanks heaps for all your work DDW. Sorry I haven't checked in this weekend, been busy with Christmas shopping and my work Christmas party today... I missed quite a lot and just got through the last 10 pages of posts 😵
The total I paid to BF was $105 which included a tip of $5 ($100 is against my name in the spreadsheet).
BF mentioned in his last post that I was also down to receive 2 extra batteries which is correct, but I'm not sure what got packed and sent in the end. I hadn't paid any extra for those batteries, but I am owed a refund for the one plug pack that was originally on my order. So the cost of extra batteries if they were included should come out of that and there should be a few dollars extra left over.
