Charles Mingus~ Live in Paris/ April 1964
Thanks a ton for this gem, Rob!
Im listening to my Gordon Lightfoot Record 🙂 (Gords Gold)
Current song: Early morning rain (Original 60s version)
I replaced the first album with a UNITED ARTISTS record that has the ORIGINAL VERSIONS OF THESE SONGS he did in the 60s.. (I prefer Purity and think its stupid he re-recorded them) -- THE ORIGINAL SONGS ARE GEORGEOUS AND BETTER!!

I'm not sure where "purity" comes in here.I replaced the first album with a UNITED ARTISTS record that has the ORIGINAL VERSIONS OF THESE SONGS he did in the 60s.. (I prefer Purity and think its stupid he re-recorded them) -- THE ORIGINAL SONGS ARE GEORGEOUS AND BETTER!!
He re-recorded those particular songs because they were controlled by United Artists and by the time Gord's Gold was planned he was signed with, if I remember correctly, WarnerBros/Reprise.

FWIW, I always thought Manhattan Transfer's version of Birdland was at the very least equal to the original WR studio version - man but those cats could sing
Actually, the whole of Extensions was a blast as well - Wacky Dust, indeed
sadly Tim passed away last October

"Music is good, music is better than good
Pretty good
Very nice -
Really Very good - things are being like they should
Very good - very good - very good
All ya gotta do is lend an ear
An' listen to it
Then y' dig a little sooner than soon
You'll be diggin' everything - diggin' all the music
What a ball"
thanks, Jon

my wife's away on holidays in Bermuda for 3 weeks, and this is the worst trouble I can get into on the weekend? 🙄
that I can remember - those medical grade brownies certainly last a while 😱

That's a great album. I know I have a copy of it around here somewhere. They were wonderful live.
It's certainly a great day (weather wise) to be spinning the black wax. I'm enjoying my newly Enabled 12p's.

Now playing:
