For fans of funk, there's a recording done in '93 by a supergroup of Herbie Hancock's band and Tower of Power. Apparently made just for fun, the guitarist on that session, Randy "Rare" Resnick, has released a bunch of the songs. Look for "To Each His Zone" on Soundcloud (and undoubtedly a few other download sites).
Really excellent playing. Randy is an old friend and the pioneer of the two-hand tapping method of playing guitar. Bonus trivia: the bass player is Tower of Power's Victor Conte, who later gained fame through... other means.
