I was actually referring to the hex key size, not the nominal screw size, which is wrong in this context. So you're right, the larger MA drivers would have M4 wood screws. Apologies to everyone concerned.
I pulled a screw out of my 12p speakers, and they are indeed M4 nominal wood screw threads, but the hex key size is still 3mm, like the screws for the smaller MA drivers. The important part is the head size diameter, which is ~7mm. Anything bigger than this isn't going to work. As these screws are sort of a wood screw/ socket head cap screw hybrid, the head size could be different, might have a 4mm hex size (I'm guessing here).
So I have both sizes here. M4 x 20mm long (larger MA drivers), and M3 x 15mm long (smaller MA drivers like 4").
