...but currently looking for a slim classic golden ration for the a7ms. would it go with older (dKal-El70.3/dMar-Ken7.3)?
There is a. specific one coming.

How do you mean “go with”? From my experience the sonic signatures of the several driver models you mentioned are different enough that they’d be distinguishable from each other in terms of timbre matching or dynamics & soundstage presentation. For example, I’d certainly endeavour to use the same model across the front row of a multi-channel home theatre set-up, although circumstances often preclude using identical enclosures there - or certainly always have for me.
by “go with” i meant, would the a7ms driver fit in the slim classic gr dMar-Ken7.3 plans? basically, looking for a slim design for the alpair 7 ms driver.

probably should place the order already.
also, i'm in between the a7ms, a10.3m (friend's recommendation), and the a11ms. looking for a daily driver for a not too loud close listening sessions that also work as studio monitors, any recommendations?

Thanks DaveNot something i have seen over hundreds of drivers.
You can overtighten the screws (realatively easier), crack the bezel, and warp the whole thing (harder).

While i suspect the same size box works, the tuning would need changing. But while with size is optimim for an A7.3 Mar-Ken, the appropriate size for the A7ms is closer to that of the EL70 (ie 13l vrs 9l).
Keep poking me guys, i have been lax getting myA7/11ms boxes out. A CGR will be a free plan, the more elaborate ones will fall into their own plan-sets.

Of these the A99ms drivers are not near as well known as the A10.3. For near field use the smaller driver will be better. The A7s (include A7.3/p7HD) will likely reach lower than the A11ms.
dave
For nearfield the 7cm/70mm class are probably the Goldilocks size in the MA line-up. At approx $35USD lower cost than the A7.3, I’d be inclined to recommend the Pluvia 7 metal. I’ve not heard the paper version, but found the A7P that preceded to be not quite to my liking.
Now, if you can afford the slightly larger enclosure size they’d require, the 10cm class - A10M or P, or CHN110 would also be worth considering. I’ve been living with a trio of A10M as front row in my 7.1 HT for several years now, and with the bass management now available in AVRs they perform very well indeed, and I’ve not yet felt the need to upgrade.

Here is a pic of my test cabinets & then the start of my current cabinet build showing the chamfering Dave suggests.
What are those white box monstrosities on the left and right ? (Do you have more details? )
Also what did you finish the walls with (where the TV is)
I'm looking at the Alpair 5.3 for a small set of studio monitors. How can I calculate the optimal enclosure volume? Sealed or Ported?
No offence taken! What are those white box monstrosities on the left and right ? (Do you have more details? )
They are my bass cabinets.

Why do you ask? 😉
They look super cool!
And the wall finish is also beautiful.

Vented. 2-2.5 litres vented. I should have a plan for these posted — my 2 litre plan (the free one). More elaborate (same tuning and alignment, bigger boxes, including µMar-Kens with the vents down the side).

If you want the most bass, the Frugel-Horn Lite, or possibly the not yet released Woden Festival ML-V. There is also Girrafe.
Worth noting that A5.2/3 CHN-50 all fit into the same boxes.
dave
I built a pair of Giraffe when we first got our hands on the A5.2 - a couple of years ago now. They worked well enough for their very small footprint, but as I’ve found with all 3 sizes of the FH family, the latter definitely delivers more low end than you’d think the driver should be capable of when compared to either MLTL/Pensil, or “standard” vented bookshelf/ monitor sized vented enclosures for the same driver.
That said, at the price of much greater build complexity and height requirements, the Olson / Nagaoka style manifolds take it a step further.

Ha ha, my father in law calls it the “Berlin” wall.
After spending a fortune on special effect paints, trying to achieve the concrete look & failing, I decided to try Mapei flexible tile adhesive, it achieved the desired finish & only cost £17.
CHN110 should offer great value for those with solid state low output z amps - a $25 TPA3116D2* would probably sound very nice. (* got one finished in case with power supply shipped for $25 from Amazon)

So, would that be close to a spiritual reincarnation of the original Alpair 12?
Gee, I wonder what else Mark et al have up their sleeves....?

So I'm a bit confused what driver is recommended for a micro monitor build for my computer <= 10 liters?
404 Error - Page Not Found is 404 for me.
Do we need a BSC circuit?

Thanks. The smallest designs you have are
mMar-Ken6 for Alpair 6 (milliSize)
mMarS for CHR-70 (milliSize/sealed 5.5 litre)
mMars for Alpair 7 (milliSize/sealed 5.5 litre)
is that correct?
Do you wire these directly to the amp? No passive BSC. Any high pass on the amp side?

For such small designs what's the purpose of the bracing behind the driver? Is it really necessary?
I also found http://wodendesign.com/downloads/Nostromo-Alpair11ms-reflex.pdf a bit bigger than I'd like and also the drivers are too expensive to be used for my purpose, but very small considering the driver used.
