Given the dramatically different T/S for this iteration boxes even for the 8 should be smaller.

I don't care for this line of drivers. The higher (but still relatively small) xmax on some of them is nice, but overall, they seem to be a step lower than the previous imo.
edit:
I especially don't like what they did to the FF85K. I was always the most interested in it out of all their drivers. That's too bad.

well, I couldn't agree with you more about the WTF factor of the FF85K, but let's first give the the new models a listen first before jumping to conclusions
Got my 85wk... will take pics later. Cone & cap are interesting. Still not thrilled about the outie surround. Magnet is smaller.

Any updates? 🙄

Looks like diy community in Japan is already long time busy with "new" drivers from Fostex...
Have you also seen new FE203En-S?

Max

well, they've probably had access for over 6 months

Interesting.
Simple 18L BR box for the FF165-WK looks a nice little project 😀

Planet10, had a chance to compare the FF85K to the FF85WK?
Just to look at them. Before i put them on the break-in bench i'll do a preliminary T/S measure so that i can get a feel for how close the boxes can be. With a backlog of drivers it could be a bit before they get a serious listen.

I wonder: what sort of drivers would Fostex produce if they talked with their market the way Mark Fenlon does?

Not better to break them in before T/S measurements...?

yes indeed, one wonders how much of such communication is involved in the design/ production of the DMO(domestic market only) / special edition drivers that never see international distribution

well, both data sets can be very helpful in the enclosure design process

I just want to get an idea, they'll be measured after breakin too.

Did anyone ever get the FF125WK? I'm interested in building a set of speakers (probably BR) for my Granddaughter and was thinking of something with a little better bass than the FE103En. Otherwise I was thinking of the FF105WK or FE126En.
This is bedroom usage with a 3-6W SE tube amp I'm working on.

Hi,
I built the Fostex BR suggested enclosures with FE103E for my desktop computer and I like them a lot.
Then I built for a friend of mine the Fostex BR suggested enclosures for the FE126En:
disaster, no bass at all.
I replaced the FE126En with the new FF125WK in the same cabinet and I am satisfied: good bass in a small-medium sized room. However my impression is that the detail and the feeling of being there that often I have listening to acustic music by the FE103E is lost.

Yes, exactly, and the FE83en is superior in this regard... its the speed and closeness to the real music.
Just brought a pair of new 85wk and 125wk to try...
Then I can able to compare with my old FF85k... which I still prefer the 83en, then 87en, most natural / real sound of all.
