Nice! Now what to put under them?
A W bin and about eight very efficient midranges would be my thoughts.
Is ESS going to get 'edcored' ?
🙂

I have some 12" drivers at home, being adequate to mate with big one ;
of those available to buy new , in present time, at my side of Big Splash , I would go with Sonido SCW300 in MLTL, with Big One on top , with or without horn ( as boyz made recently)
just type Sonido in search field on my blog, and you can see mentioned driver in box
it seems I'm going to bug my AR2, asking him when he's going to visit old country again ......( and bring a pair, in pockets)

Suppose he have very deep pockets 🙂)
Would like to see him take that through customs.
Speaking off.. couldnt resist, must stop now before...

Outrageously beautiful 😀

I am curious about weight of the new amt. My 1b ‘bookshelf’ manual says they weight 12.5 lbs and are crossed over at 1k. ‘bookshelf’ amts might weight a bit more as they have an enclosed rear housing.
Well, I remember stereo shops in the 70's having these speakers. How I wanted them, but way out of price range.
They were, along with big phase linear amp and preamp things of my dreams. They were "the stuff" of the day. Even Radio Shack was selling small book shelf speakers
with some kind of tiny Heil tweeter.
My money at time only afforded a Kenwood 5500 integrated amp and Genesis II passive radiator bookshelf speakers.
Good heavens, they are reasonable. Just what I need, another giant speaker ...well I am used to A7 size, this will be smaller than that. 100 dB huh? Good by budget.
Did I see flat packs for cabs mentioned?

AMT's arriving here in Michigan on Friday(!!), working through 2 possible configs:
1) Nearfield SLOB with smaller woofers, so that the slot cancellation frequency increases from ~500 Hz to maybe 800 or so. These 5" deep by 8" tall SB's have twice the area of a single 5", so they're currently interesting
SB15SFCR39-8
SB Acoustics SB15SFCR39-8 5x8" Paper Cone Woofer
2) LX mini style with "back wave absorption" tube/thingy for placement near the back wall. Long story short, we're building a truck-bed camper and some analog XO LXmini's as a reference for really small spaces. We're using insulating material (3m thinsulate) that seems to absorb very much like the high pass XO.. We'll see what happens 🙂

it looks flat to over 1K, so why not
though, me not like those big brutes ......... I believe good mating with Big AMT, if using 15", one needs something closer to old ones , VoT drivers
in short - driver being both efficient and sensitive, or you risk getting combo being sluggish around Xo
can't find data for TAD , but I believe it's closer to 2226H than to Altec 515
go figure

Yeah, $300 each....
Are relatively "small builds" using these drivers feasible? I'm thinking something
basic like a 6.5" smallish woofer crossed over at 2-ish K or so.
Time to find my copy of Dickason... 🙂

Crazy how much that was back then! I remember going to car dealer around '69 with my father who bought a very nice Chrysler car, I think it was 7500.00.
I recall thinking, how much can a car cost? Of course a 1965 Ferrari 275 GT was under 20 grand at the time. Some just under 15,000 new. At auction today?
Over 2 million. (I told him to get the Ferrari!)

Oh well, I see another not so small speaker project coming on!
