2 enclosures that looks like one? These 4 boxes for instance.

It would be two shallow enclosures so it sort of ends up looking like a big square unless I get fancy with the enclosures. I think with a floor standing speaker like that, two boxes works a lot better.
I think I'm just gonna split a 30 litre or so CGR box into two boxes on the inside as I like the aesthetic. I'm going to make the compartment for the 7ms 6 litres ish. It won't be a straight separation, I'm planning on using a couple of angled bits of wood which will join together. So it will be sort of a V shape compartment, something like two tysens combined.
Do you still have any of your 12pw speakers on hand?

Me? No. Al the one si have left are in the big MTMs.
The only other pairs thru here are in an A7p version of the above.

Have you done anything else to the 12pw apart from enable? They look grey rather than the lightish blue I see everywhere else
All paper cones get a thin coat of modpodge, these ones used black, cone ended up a very nice dark grey. Ytring different colours on the blue cones can have dramatic affect.

The pretreatment helps. The coat is just enuff to bind all the paper fibres at the surface of the cone together (something i discovered over 40 years ago — i have been doing it to paper cones since then).
It also has the benefit of making it easier to recover from a mistake when adding the spots.

That modpodge, is that the Plaid (brand) Modpodge? I know it's used for a lot but did not know that it works on paper cones.
Yes, but the brand is likely non-critical. I started out with puzzlekoat (a clear statement of its original purpose), it is a PVA that dries somewhat flexier than white glue.
It needs to be thinned just a little, how much depends on the consistency of th ebottle you get and how long you have had it (it needs more over time, the smallest amount you can get will do many drivers.
Here some more info (and another simple trick as well for most metal baskets).
Speaker Tweeks -- Puzzlecoat & Ductseal
ModPodge seems to a brand with a greater worldwide availability.
More pictures here: It's not easy being green -- just pictures

Those blue drivers on that thread you shared look so good. I would love to test this on cheaper drivers but I don't think I'd risk my future 12pws, I am not brave enough
There are some really spectacular Fostex (where the cone starts white), althou one has to be careful. The first time i tried to turn a new FExx6En blue. A bright blue coat of midPodge turned the cone green.

Hi all. Just to keep anyone interested updated, it may be a few months before the budget allows me to go forward with this project. Not really happy with my amp situation, so I'm going to order a 3e audio TPA3255 board. If it's any good I will be biamping with two of these. Probably going to take a while to arrive from China, though.
I may do some foam core enclosure mocks in the meantime. I will keep this thread updated

I think the time is finally coming for me to continue with this idea. I have decided to use the a12pw more as a bass module that can be ran with any speaker that can be placed on top. Similar idea to what Troels has done here bass-module
I can't seem to find any info on the xover for an FA251, wondering if anyone can chip in on how it works with the high level inputs?

That is exactly how these are intended to be used:
I aslo folded the Woden ML-TL to make it useful for this purpose.

Thanks, Dave. That's exactly what I had in mind as I've seen you share that before. I'll be on holiday for the next month or so but will get started when I'm back
Thanks, Dave.
If anyone has any idea how something like the FA251 works with the high level input I'd appreciate it. From what I can see you wire it from the speaker terminals so I can't see how you could make an xover. And it only seems to have RCA in and not out. Might have to go for the two channel options like the FA122

I can have a look at the Dayton. I do have some moral/business model issues with PE’s housebrand, and try to avoid them.
That price is awefully close to an Alpair 12pw from Kent. A superb midWoofer and underappreciated. It would be a no-brainer for me.

From about a 15 litre reflex (up to about 40) and brings about 25 Hz (F10) in Wodens big ML-TL.

The twin design costs money, but the basic MLTL is published free.

Looks like i have yet to publish the free for use 35 litre CGR for these.

Hi Dave,
I'm reviving this very old thread as it's time I finally get this done, I didn't realise it's been 3 years since I started this thread (crazy).
I am considering building the folded MLTL you added a link for above (http://wodendesign.com/downloads/A12pw-folded-ml-tl-extents.pdf), I was wondering if you have any opinion of how this compares to a ported version of the 12pw? I am just asking because I'm considering cost of the plywood vs overall benefit of the bigger cabinet. I have never really compared an MLTL to a ported box for a specific driver.
I was also wondering if you have the more detailed plans to hand, you sent these to me a while ago but I can't find them anymore.
Thanks
TL goes lower. BR is smaller.
The TL likely has better bass (i’ve not heard the A12pw in a basic reflex).
http://wodendesign.com/downloads/A12pw-folded-MLTL-291015.pdf
A variation on a miniOnken would be my choice for a less intense use of plywood. It would need to be a variation of a CGR for less plywood. I can’t draw anything at the moment, but i could probably describe one.
