Hey folks, can anyone recommend a driver that they could compare with the JBL GTO1214 12" subwoofer. I killed two tonight and need something to replace them aaaand since I can't find a single one of them anywhere I'm going to have to work with something comparable. I can easily look at the TS params and get something similar, but it seems the high QMS of 10.7 is a little hard to match. Anyone have any suggestions? They fill a hole in my 18Hz tapped horns.
Thanks in advance.
Shane

I would exhaust the search for the original speaker, someone should have in existence even if it is discontinued.
You even have the DVC option
Any replacement will always be a more complicated job and with uncertain results
Maybe these people can help you

Look at high-Bl driver like Bms 12s330, 12n630. Qts is not that important. It is linked to Fs. If Qts is high, Fs needs to be higher as well ans vice versa. The horn path is narrow in the throat, so for The Kraken 212, Bl is very important to get strength enough to drive the horn.

Yeah these are essentially the Kraken 1X12 with a few minor changes.
What about the LAB 12 by Eminence? Seems to fit the bill, might be a few dB less efficient below 25Hz than the JBL, but may be an alternative available in Canada.
Not a best choice, depends on price.
I'm not sure how much cone excursion is needed here.
B&C Speakers 12TBX100 and Hifonics MXZ 12D2 comes to mind.

Looks like they're sold out, maybe looking directly at car audio stores

I don't understand that point, what is the discussion here? The OP looks for a driver (it is supposed to be in its TS) to replace JBL GTO1214.
Then you appear and recommend two options but you mention that you do not know the Xmax of the original.
Then I provide all the complete data.
This thread started badly, I think we would have to rephrase if QTS is important in a threaded horn .....😕
I have real interest in knowing the answer
No, I knew those JBL drivers hang around 14mm of Xmax, I was not asking for Xmax of the driver. The horn design and capabilities are rather unknown to us, so there is possibility that mote durable and more capable driver can fit in. But to choose the right one, one should at least know cone displacement requirements.

This looks too much like a dialogue in the Tower of Babel ....
Again, forget the Xmax, is the QTS parameter important in a folded horn?
If so, what percentage can it influence?
But you can answer me next year, there's no hurry, have a Happy New Year, friend !

The post was repeated, sorry.
Just to take advantage of the repeated place:
There are all kinds, right?
The OP supposes that without data of YOUR folded horn can we help?

Did you look at the JBL Stadium 1224 subwoofer? The specs look similar to the GTO1214. It seems to be quite a bit deeper though, so make sure that it will fit where it needs to fit.
Specs are available at the link below.

One of the JL audio 12w3v2 might work: http://mediacdn.jlaudio.com/media/mfg/9013/media_document/dev_1/12W3v2_MAN.pdf
I always thought they sounded better than the JBLs, who were no slouch, as well.

Thanks Brian, yes I did look at this driver, and the others in this same line. The Stadium is a bit deep for my cabinet unfortunately.
The Pioneer TS-W1200PRO looks interesting.
Subwoofer Pioneer TS-W1200PRO specifications.
FS is a bit high though and Xmax is a tad short. But BL, efficiency and Q looks workable.
So far the short list is;
Eminence Lab12
Pioneer ts-w1200pro
Precision Devices PD.12SB30
Fane FC-123F01
Still not ideal and seems most will lack extension, but I may be able to get away with a 25HZ highpass.
Hey @The Lord Flashheart, the JL audio may work also, but it's a tad higher in price than what I wanted to spend and you're honestly not getting much for the money you spend with JL.
