Takusma, check ebay for an LCD monitor. Shipping will be a bit more, but its better than paying those prices you are talking about. Also, I hardly think you care about the warranty on one of these 🙂
If it doesn't work out, then put it back together and sell it again.
Someone's idea about the internal construction being different? Just because the internal construction is different doesn't mean that you can't take it apart, you will just have to take it apart in a different way 🙂
I think (speculating) most LCD's will come apart contrary to peoples beliefs. I just took apart an old Dell 386 laptop for the LCD screen the other day, it came apart fine. They were using a sharp LCD in there.
About the screen, be careful cause no garuntee that you can take it apart.
Also, I didn't find a brand name on it which is all that much worse. Try to find the manufacturer that makes the actual LCD

Thank you for the information Psionic. 🙂
I just emailed Goldenshop asking for the name of the company and if they had a site, and I am of course eager (sp?) to get their reply.

Let's just hope that it will be a good reply....

If you can get the name of the LCD manufacturer, then maybe you can find one on ebay. Chances are ebay will be cheaper than a store. Post their reply when you get it im curious to see.
Oh and by the way, does 5ms response time even exist!? I thought that the fastest response time on displays currently out on the market was 16ms.. 😕
Nooooo, please don't say that!!! 🙂
Anyway, we will just have to wait and see then don't we? 😉
But seriously....is there 5ms displays out on the market!?

That responce time is probily the rise time
Some mfg's only list rise or fall time to coax ppl into buying
16 ms is the fastest im aware of also
How can you tell? I can't find any info on it. What model is it? I wouldn't buy that thing until it's incredible specs are validated.
Hah! Cruser, good work!!
This is the answer I got from goldenshop today..
"Dear sir,
Thanks for your email.
Sorry we don't know their site exactly.
Best regards,
Ronald"
Not the reply I was hoping for if I may say so myself.

it seems that all topcon's monitors are high contrast lowest one i have seen is 400:1 and 700:1 as the highest now if i can only find the responce times (cause i know 5ms is bull) im guessing its 5ms rise and 11ms fall for a 16ms lcd but who knows im interested in this one and im gonna do some searching to weed the specs out
nice find takusama

Ps.

"Ring Effect"
Hey guys,
I noticed people complaining about the "ring or halo effect". This is a problem with the fresnel itself. Most of the fresnels sold dont list "Grooves per Inch". The more "grooves per inch" the better the fresnel. 400 GPI is the highest I could find so far. With this... you have no ring effect no matter how close or far you mount the lcd from the it.
