Cool.
Thanks ywh.
Hey cruser. I got my 305 today from IS. I cut the notches in the fresnel exactly like you did, and it fits rather nicely. There's definately a size increase. Very nice. Only problem is that it's scratched. Didn't you have the same problem? Anyways, I'll probably just order that $29 fresnel thats the same size.
Hey Lifter
I.S. sent me a good one when i complaind, but the one from diy labs is beautfull not a scratch on it . It looks to be welded perfectly on the edges and looks to be the same size as the elmo.
for $29.95 + $5.00 shipping you cant beat it
I have not used it yet so i cant say how good it is or how the lcd fits on it, but it is not cuped as much as the elmo or 3m so im guessing you might get a little more display area out of it.
I wish i had an lcd to play with gotta wait a week before i can play

Ok, I've still got that halo effect w/ the new fresnel, but it's not as bad. I think it's just a glare issue. Zardoz said that he tried moving the fresnel away from the panel and it made the screen door effect worse. I'm going to try it myself anyways, just to see exactly what it does and how bad it is, because I think that would solve the problem. I may also try putting a glass panel in between the two, and maybe even some polarizing film in between (just to see what happens).
My panel has some minor pixel damage. I wasn't sure what it was at first but now I realize that I have bright spots in the upper right corner (won't turn black, but bright colors work fine). Not cool, but there's nothing I can do about it and it's not that noticable at all. I have no idea when, where, or how this happened. I know this is a common problem that happens to LCDs, but I wish I knew if it was defective, if moving it around caused it, or if light and/or heat caused it. I want to be able to avoid this when and if I get a UXGA panel.

Hi YWH,
I would like to know what type of lenses do you use for projection lens? I saw from your previous drawing that it's triplet, could you inform me the focal length of each lens?
Last question, what is the purpose of lens above the lamp, is it convex lens?
Thank you.

Hi Gunawan W
I dont know the focal length of each lens, the summation of the focal length are 320mm
lens above the lamp:increase the light
yes, t is iconvex lens

This thread seems dead, but I will post new information anyway.
I bought the NEC 1550V as I could not find the 1545V. It does look like the same panel in the 1545V. It disassembles the same way. The 1560V has different higher contrast, but a slower response time. That is why I stuck with the 1550V,
When disassembling, be VERY careful when using a knife to separate the metal shields that are glued together. I accidently scraped some traces on the horizontal board. DO NOT insert the knife very deep. I do not have a frame or anything to steady the lcd and boards yet, so I have not hooked it up to see if it is OK.
I am picking up a MH 400W lighting setup today, so soon I will know...

IT works! The NEC 1550V that I disassembled works! I did not get the lite today as no one was there to accept a credit card. I will get it tomorrow.

I am not sure what you mean. There is no cable going between the horizontal and vertical boards. They are not physical connected to each other.
Look at the pictures for the 1545V (at the beginning of this thread). The 1550V is laid out exactly the same.

hey mavmesa can you tell me the the part number of that lcd ?
for example (lm150x05) (a3) it should be on a sticker on the back of the backlight thanks

Wow, there's quite a few NEC's out there. Ok, the 1545V, and the 1560V have crappy response times. Everything else has a feature NEC calls "Rapid Response", which is just a <30ms response time.
All of these have Rapid Response:
1550V (300:1 CR, analog input)
1550M (450:1 CR, analog input)
1560NX (350:1 CR, DVI and analog inputs)
1560M (450:1 CR, DVI and analog inputs)
I think I may be buying the 1560M, which lists at $380. This would be a major upgrade, as I am experiencing some ghosting and massive blurring w/ the 1545. The CR ratio upgrade will also be nice, and I can put the 1545 back together and use it as a monitor (and I do need one for something else). No resolution increase, but it looks like we're all going to have to wait until Digitalview starts supporting newer panels (the new Samsung 15.4" 1900x1200 panel in the new Inspiron 8500's is looking pretty sweet).

I was thinking about getting the 1545V, but I can get a 1560NX for only $275. Is that a good deal?
I can't seem to find the 1560M. Is the 1560NX the next best thing?
I assume it is just as easy to take apart?

That's the problem. You do not know which LCD modules are used in which monitors. If specs are almost identical and the monitor manufactor is the same, good chance the modules are the same construction. If monitor models are different specs, good chance the LCD modules are different. That is my way of looking at it. I took the leap on the 1550V and got lucky that it was the same LCD module as the 1545V. If the line suffix is different (-V, -S, -G, -SX, etc.), then I would almost bet the internal construction is different.
Is this everyone elses experience?

I'm not so sure about that. The "M" for example, stands for multimedia. It has a built in USB 2.0 hub and speakers. I wouldn't be surprised if every 15" NEC monitor had a Philips LG module. I guess I'll take the leap and find out.
Well, let us know. If so, then we can add another display to the list.
I wired my light tonight. Don't have the case built yet, so optics are not in place. Just wanted to turn it on to see the 400 MH light work. DO NOT look at it! The back of my eyes still hurt. Next time, I will have a cover to place over it.

So do you guys think the 1560NX will work?
Because if it doesn't, I'm going to have to put out ALOT of money on this thing...and I'm only a teenager! 🙂
As you can see, I live in Sweden and let me tell you, things are PRETTY hard to find here.
So I managed to find a 1550v wich I just heard seemed to work really good and so forth, but this things costs about 560dollars here
So I decided to look for similar (sp?) LCDs, and so I found the 1560NX wich turned out to have some pretty good specs and a pretty good price to!! Roughly 370dollars, and for being sold in Sweden it is a pretty good price!
Although, this thing has yet to be confirmed to work so I want to be really sure before I order this thing.
Oh and PS. Sorry for the ENGRISH, I'm young and inexperienced so don't blame me! 😉

No apoligies needed for your english skills, truth be known your better off then most of us because in many foreign countries many know their native language and English, where as people like myself never learned a different language untill I went into college( now). Man I wished a different language was a required thing in elementary school, that would have made this a ton easier. LOL anyways I love this thread, My idea....projectors for every room of the house.
