My_Ref Fremen Edition GB (14th GB)

Yeah, that's ridiculously poor quality control. Perhaps you should build one with spare parts, just to make certain they haven't done anything else wrong! If they do not require a return, you could offer these at a discount to builders who feel confident enough to build without the silkscreen. I think I could, just by referring to the pics of properly labeled boards. They're not very complicated.

Otherwise, have a glass of wine and calm down. We're all in this together, and we appreciate your extraordinary efforts in the face of these setbacks.

Peace,
Tom E

Wow this is starting to sound like a bad joke, what next, no holes in the boards? They aren't going to stay in business very long with quality control issues like that.
But on the other hand, couldn't the boards be shipped back to which they would just have to silkscreen those boards and they would be fine?

Dario,

I start to be worried.. About You. It starts to become a nightmare for You. It should not be like that!! You are doing such a nice effort for the people here.
How could we support You?

And You were right in rejecting, I think so. While silk screen is not that important for the experienced here, for the first time builders instead it is such a great help, and for sure helps avoiding lot's of confusion!

I am afraid that was done 'on purpose' like a punishment..

Ciao, George

I missed out on the buy and would very much be interested in building up the unlabled boards. It would be a novelty and not hard. ;-)

Care to name the supplier so we can all be informed for our next PCB purchases?

Hi Dario, I share the toughts of George.
Personally I can wait without any problems for the whole matter to be resolved. I thank you for the commitment and the passion that allowed this amplifier to exist and grow.
As George says: How can we support you?
I hope it is not necessary, but if another small financial contribution is needed to solve the problem, I am here. It doesn't seem fair to me if you even lose money in this situation ...
Ti abbraccio, ciao

Thanks everyone for your support.

This has been the reliable supplier of the My_Ref FE from the beginning, in 2017 a similar problem happened (boards were re-manufacctured 3 times) but next runs went all fine.

They started outsourcing part of the manufactiring to China a couple of years ago but on request they still produced in Italy (as My_Ref FE PCBs has always been).

Until this last one...

BTW in 2017 I've sourced a small batch from a first Chinese manufacturer:

As you can see quality was very very good, quite on par with Italian ones (left).

Next GB I will probably use this Chinese supplier.

We are all in this together. Thank you Dario for all the stress you have put yourself though for the rest of us.
Talk to supplier, they may be ready to source them locally.
The discrete transistors from my BOM arrived today. Came from Farnell.
But I think that several builders will never get working amps without the silk screen. I remember the first My_Ref gold plated boards from Mauro Penasa. Single sided stereo board and very large. I did not see there was a jumper wire run required for both channels. Long wires under under the board. Needless to say no relay click, diode light, or output. Felt pretty stupid once this was figured out.

Using an unmarked pcb plus a printout of the artwork wouldn't be that difficult.

I already have too many projects on the go myself, but assuming the corrected boards will be supplied at no extra cost, offering the plain ones at a discount could perhaps recoup some compensation for your work?

BOM

Hi Dario,
BAV99 diode in BOM is obsolete... a replacement is suggested by Mouser. I am not able to modify the BOM... think that best is you to modify it.

THANKS for your hard job in providing the community with such a nice workproduct.

I am thinking to build this amplifier... will post my request for a couple of PCB's in case.

Regards

ugo

Boards arrived, finally correct!

Finally!

Boards arrived, correct thickness, silk screen present!

This week I'll make a test build to be sure they're fully functional and then I will start packing and next week shipping.
