There was a hickup in the schematic, this one is OK:
It's playing low volume as the EL86 cathode resistors are not bypassed yet.
Soundwise very nice indeed.

Remember the bypass has to be cathode to cathode for this to work - back to back electro's are essential but it should work fine with just 64V caps.

I will. Unfortunately only one trannie at hand. I was looking at the Van der Veen's Auto Bias contraption but it needs high resistance to the grids to steer the bias. That won't be possible with the grounded grid of V2. Nice read though.

I don't know if I'm reading this right. At the "168.2V" junction, you have C5/100uf to ground. Aren't you grounding the signal or is that intentional?
