My Take on X-BOSOZ

I suspect even the 50W R-core is sufficient.

I can't seem to find it on their page, but I picked up
a 50W dual primary, 4x18VAC transformer at
their store when I was in HK a couple months
back. You can tie three secondaries in series for
the + voltage and one secondary for the - voltage.

PCB update 🙂

The PCBs have been fully funded by me with help from the preorders, and the entire order is in production.. So everything is in full swing. I know Brian has also obtained quite a lot of the kit contents so all in all things are going well.

I want to personally thank all of you who put in pre-orders. I very much appreciate your support and confidence even after some of you who are interested in this circuit have had some very bad experiences with others.

It means a lot to me to have the faith of my comrades. 🙂

Also thanks so much to Nelson, Terry, Steen, Tony, and a host of others I cannot name right now who gave me a lot of great tips on the layout.

Cheers! :drink:

I kind of like the overkill of the 100w r-cores. One side benefit is the 100w model has a 9vac winding to power my PIC controlled volume control.

I emailed DIYClub.biz to get a quote for shipping for model R80-34 primary (0-115) x 2 /SCN: (30-20-0-20-30)X2(1A).0-15 X2(1A).0-9 (1A)

Any other thoughts on the amount of trafo wattage needed appreciated.

I agree with the 9v tap because i will use my digital relay volume pot from digi01 😀

Its just me but I cannot see why you all don't want to use the partsexpress clearance toroids?

Parts Express Clearance Toroid

I've suggested this a number of times resulting in no commentary. Its big, cheap, and has all the windings you will need for a dual mono preamp, in 1 xformer.

EDIT: PRICE = $29.68

This multi-tap toroidal transformer is excellent for power amp building, and offers extra possibilities thanks to its multiple output voltages. 55V-0-55V 350VA output will run a power amplifier, 16.2V-0-16.2V output can be used for powering a pre-amp or EQ section, and 14V output can be used to power a cooling fan. Factory buyout - limited quantity!

Specifications: Input: 120V. Output: 14V, 16.2V-0-16.2V, and 55V-0-55V. Rated at 350VA. Weight: 9.2 lbs. Dimensions: 5-1/4" O.D. x 1-1/8" I.D. x 2-3/4" H.

I know they aren't toroids, but there are some nice Triad 60VCT transformers on eBay for $5 each (have to buy 2) plus some shipping. Plan to use one of those and a small toroid from Digi-key. Puts the cost under $30, including shipping.

joster asked:
Maybe they'd sell a bunch as a group buy, special price?

I just spoke to "Lynn" @ PE about a price point for 129-095.
Lynn checked with a supervisor and replied for 10 or more, the "one time" price would be.

$25.34

She explained this offer was to one person only and asked how many I would like at this time. (Open mouth...insert foot...chomp) :cannotbe: There was no further discount for greater quantity.

I explained the nature of a pending group buy and said someone would get back to her in a few days.

I need one of these. Who else?

lgreen-
I ordered one. I am not sure why I didn't order more since I have 6 channels worth of boards.
