artiste in there somewhere?
Al, are we catching a glimpse of your aesthetic sensibilities?😉

Hi Russ,
As I (mostly) watch you responding to all of our requests for tweaking these things, I can't help but imagine you must really love it.
I wonder if the parts density around the Q's could be relaxed through moving them (the Q's) a little further apart? No hurry, wait for other changes to present themselves.
Thanks

HI Ed, thats a good thought, and it had crossed my mind, but I am hoping to keep the fets all as close together as possible, as one of the design goals was good thermal coupling, but I may shift things a little, as it is on my print out mockup things really are not that tight.
I forgot to mention that I changed the size of R1,R2,R6, and R7 to 4x14,15mm LS types so thats give people a lot of options for 3W resistors there.
Cheers!
Russ

Excellent Russ, keep those traces the way they are and those FET close. Being a Twisted design traces should have a pear shape to be consistent with its PCB creator.
Those characteristics are what I think is the best layout I’ve seen on the different iterations of this circuit.
Coming to the film bypass for zeners these should be as big as the layout allows, if possible these caps should be polyprop (MKP), maybe the standard WIMA shape will do here if a 0.22u/160V can be fitted that will do the trick. A smaller print conformal type is available from Panasonic that could also be used.

Thanks, I learn every step of the way. 😉
Our standard bypass cap is a Wima .1uF 100V polyester. Ordering those by the 1000 these days.
Russ, for the 3W resistors, perhaps that should be a multi-pad parts as well. I think adding a standard to-220 spacing would allow Caddocks and smaller resistors.
I think it's time for me to post a BOM so we can start discussing the parts for the standard kit. I'll get something up today to use as a starting point.

A beauty of work Russ, thanks.
At this point I would like to ask how many of you have actually check the layout against the schematic? This would be a good exercise to clear any bug. The more eyes the better.
I myself have not gone over all of it yet.

How to obtain permission.
Hi All,
I would like to be sure I have permission from Nelson Pass and Terry Aben before I get these manufactured. I plan on getting 100-150 or so high quality PCBs made and will sell them for DIY use only on the Twisted Pear Audio site just as Brian and I do for Mauro Penasa's design. That is we will only mark up the boards enough to pay for our costs and a little for maintaining the web site and building prototypes and such. The PCBs will not be utilized commercially.
I am not sure how to obtain such permission. I would humbly ask for assistance.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. I have learned a lot. I hope everyone enjoys the end result. I can't wait to try it myself.
Cheers!

Send Nelson an email
Nelson looks over the website from time to time. I am sure he knows about this project.
He will give his blessing, I am sure. The people who build their own are not same group as the people who pay 4,000.00 for a linestage. NP has commented that we are the ones who complain about 50.00 power transformers. And 100.00 pre-made chassis.

I have privately given the Twisted Pear guys permission before now, but I'm happy to do so again publically here. Hopefully Nelson will as well. I suggest sending him an e-mail just in case he doesn't happen to look in here.
Cheers, Terry Aben
