My Onkyo CD Player not working

How many adjustment pots can you see inside your player?
Hi Mister Audio,

Thanks for your advice. I can't see an adjustment pot inside the player.

I suppose the Laser light " on and off" is controlled by an program not with a switch.

Re its operation.
1) When the tray is closed (without a CD) "with player set on", the laser light won't start with the ray on. the laser light set is on the "UP" position
2) On pressing the button to move the tray out, the laser light set moves down first and then the tray out. The laser light set is always on "UP" position with the laser light off. If the laser light set not moving down the tray can't be moved out.
3) Place a CD on the tray and press the button to close the tray. After its closing the laser light moves up and then followed by the laser light on to detect CD.
4) If no CD on the tray is detected the laser light will be switched off with "NO Disc" displayed on the LED display.
5) If pressing the "Play" button on the remote control, the laser light will start again detecting CD. If no CD in the tray the laser light will be off with "No Disc" displayed on the LED display.

Hi all,

I have no luck, unable to make my Onkyo CD Player to work again.
I have re-assembled the set. The tray works without problem in-and-out. The lens set moves up-and-down. But still it can't play CD.

What I just found is;
There is no display indicated on the LED display.

I suppose my Onkyo CD Player coming to end of its life. I have to looking for a new CD Player.

Anyway, lot of thanks for your efforts helping me in this case. Thanks

Regards

I take it you didn't attempt fo purchase and replace the entire transport mech? As mentioned by others, this is probably a Sony KSS213, probably a C variant of some sort. It should be marked on your device. I couldn't find your player on the normal CD-Player-DAC-Transport List(one version here: https://vasiltech.narod.ru/CD-Player-DAC-Transport.htm), but it might be very similar to the Onkyo DX-7555.
Examples of such for sale are still pretty prevalent; for example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1544092365...r0jxaSbLGoIvhnPEsd5tkG_PqJ-3uBZYaAis5EALw_wcB
Should be easy for you to source in Hong Kong I would think.

Did you forget to connect the control panel to the mainboard? It happens to me all the time.
Hi raistinmajere,

Where I have to check? I only removed the Player (device), disconnecting its power cables and its cable to the mainboard. The later cable seem not in a good condition but I have no way to check its contacts. Neither I can find a new cable.

The cables from my old DVD burner are different, not the same size.

It's not LED, its a VFD (vacuum fluorescent display).
https://www.noritake-elec.com/technology/general-technical-information/vfd-operation

These have a higher voltage negative supply of around -27 volts and internal heated filaments. You need to check that the pins on the display have around -27 volts on them and that there is about 3 volts AC between the end pins. The display should feel slightly warm after a few minutes even if unlit. This assumes the display is intact and the the vacuum is good. The little glass 'pip' at the edge of these displays is very fragile.
