It works well with piCorePlayer 3.20.
PCP 3.20, a Kali, & a Boss make a very good combo!

Thanks for the tip
Just received my Boss DAC.
I am thinking of supply 5v electricity via J19 since the J4 looks so tiny and not very reliable to me.

Hi folks.
I added an article/howto to my blog related to
1. 384k upsampling
2. RPI/I2S-HAT/LMS/squeezelite
I also added some background info.
Enjoy.
Thank you for this! Always bugged me not staying in the correct crystal multiplier.
Code:
-R -u vLs::0.5:28:::
(sync-mode) 44k1x to 352k8 / 48kx to 384K
-R -u vLsX::0.5:28:::
(async) everything to 384k (or 192k)
Can this be done on the LMS server side?
Hello , i'm gonna buy it here from a local supplier in my country. Here on this thread I read it was updated for its low pass filter and i don't know how i can spot I'm buying the right one. Is there a pcb version? Can you help?
Last question, i' m after building a squeezebox like standalone player with 7" touch screen in the same enclosure, is that possible , am i missing something? Thanks

The "low pass filter" that you are referring to is implemented in software in the driver so you don't need to worry about a PCB revision.
Building a "squeezebox like standalone player" is definitely possible, if you're a good enough programmer with plenty of spare time on your hands.
If you'd settle for using one of the commonly available audio distributions, you wouldn't need to write a single line of code.

Thank you dimdim, last time I wrote a code was 20 years ago with Fortran 77🙂. I watched videos installing a touch screen on the raspberry 3 , and i am suspicious that a dac installed on the raspberry board would not let me connect power cables of the screen on the rasp 3.
I would like to mute my amp when the Boss is muted via it's auto mute. Any ideas how I can get the mute state from the Boss?
The J19 pin 14 does not seem to be linked to the auto mute.

Wonder if this is a driver issue - seems like the signal should do what is says. Maybe Allo could chime in.
Their support says it's expected. I guess they document it this way so that if you are using a Volt amp you can mute it using that GPIO pin. Not that the Boss will do it automatically...Wonder if this is a driver issue - seems like the signal should do what is says. Maybe Allo could chime in.
Good evening,
is anybody here who hast got the Boss in slave mode ontop of Kali running under moOde on the PI?
MoOde allows Boss in slave mode, and config shows this, but I do not get any sound :-(
I read here that under picore this worked, but I am not able to setup picore for me. So I'd like to get it running with MoOde.

Moode runs pretty outdated kernels. Tim prefers stability over functionality.
At least that's what he's telling me all the time. 🙄
Since months I'm telling him to switch to 4.9.x...
It's possible that slave mode had an issue during those days.
I'm not able to test that kernel in your config since I don't have a 2nd lab Kali. (I'm not willing/motivated to use my main audio system Kali for development and troubleshooting purposes)
Next Moode revision will come with the most current kernels (4.9.38), with most up2date Allo drivers inside.
It's up 2 Tim to release the stuff. He has my kernel contributions (audio&rt-audio) on the table for testing.
Enjoy.

Thanks Klaus, so I gonna wait and enjoy playing with some other thingies in the meantime.

Hi,
Brief update that @Soundcheck's excellent armv7 advanced kernels are integrated into upcoming moOde 3.8 and looking rock solid 🙂
Should be releasing 3.8 after integrating and testing armv6 Adv kernels.

For we Boss users who recently paid for Mo0de, will there be an additional cost for this new kernal/driver update? 🙂
Will this battery holder Product: BP-6AA | TASCAM also power either the Pi-3 or the Allo DAC Boss (it delivers 5V on USB micro)?
Edit: The jack is 1,5 mms wide and compatible with this other one Tascam PS-P520E | 5-Volt AC Adapter which feeds a lot of Tascam regular gear.
0,7 s delay due to KALI buffert
Gentlemen, meanwhile i have Boss ontop of Kali in slave mode working under Moode. What I expected was a 0,7 s delay for the KALIs i2s buffer. But there is no such thing. So I wonder, if this KALI is working properly? What is your experience about that?

Not sure what you mean.
I'd expect that the playback starts almost immediately and the buffer gets filled up over time.

Klaus, from Ian's FIFO I was used to have exact 0.7 seconds delay in the chain. Means, buffer output is 0.7 seconds behind buffer input. Sound always has this delay. So it also stops later.
This is what I expected with KALI as well, but it is not like that. Start and stop works without any noticeable delay.
Allo's web pages mention this 0.7 seconds data buffer.
So I am not sure if KALI works properly.
Soundwise there is a difference between BOSS as a master and on top of KALI, but I can't say that it is much better sounding.
Does anybody with KALI notice this delay?
