My Accuphase T 100

Shakespeare used to say: "all's well that ends well" . I will continue to publish the steps I will take. However, I am curious why did they choose to put a bipolar, for example, C11, instead of a film one.
Today I left the tuner play all afternoon on Quads with OTL, it's the phase of getting used to something "new". It's promising in terms of sound and no noise at all from the decoder.
Of course, I will start refurbishing with the power supply capacitors, I found elcos at the value and with the diameter according to the originals. For the same money, I can take NICHICON KG III, or MUNDORF Mylithic

Now I am waiting for the capacitors I ordered at HiFiCollective. Transistors I shall replace only the Q5/6/7 on both modules.
Capacitors I choose only Mundorf, including PSU smoothing and bipolar elco to replace the polar elcos of 100uF and 220uF.
While I am waiting I am listening as it is and the sound is beautiful, much better than Tandberg 3001 which I am comparing in the same room, same setup. And very very quiet, unreal quiet.

Hi,
I have just received the replacement transistors for my Accuphase 100 audio bords. They come from Singapore and are strange shape for a BC 414B....I have never seen such size and metal cans for a BC414. There is someone familiar with this? Are they real BC414?

I recognise them that casing is an early design used in the UK for collector current BJT,s of around 100ma/200ma like the BC107/8/9 and BC186/7 early BJT,s .

Those Singapore guys blew it as far checking the changeover from steel case to plastic design in later designs --BC414 in that type of case is complete fraud as far as "genuine " is concerned.

With the photo showing BC414B ?
IF it was a BC141 then --yes that was the casing in those days .

Picture the scene --Singapore manufacturers design dept.

Translated - I have an old equivalents book from the 70,s and it shows metal casings -
Reply-- okay use it .
Wont those web users in the West not know the difference ?
Reply--well we've fooled them so far , taken their $$$$ and supplied %*"!! --couldn't translate that bit .

Usualy BC metalix can are TO18 but this one is TO39

The BC414 is a X10 type shape or TO92 which is purely plastic .
Ic=100ma
P TOT=300mWF.

It is not standard design to put it in a metal case as LATER /QUALITY design manufacturing improved the actual die of the BJT no longer requiring like the early BJT,s to be encased in metal .

In the BC 400 range heavy current BJT,s used a TO126 , sometimes a TO106 or TO39 if you look at the later BC500/BC600/BC700 you will find even those with a 1 amp current =Ic dont use a metal casing down to progress in BJT design.

Reading back I see that this is a working tuner, but OP wants to change
transistors for unknown reasons, replacing old japanese metal cans with
European plastic types of different pinout.

BC414 by the way is no "modern component" (post 40) but was mainly
sold in the seventies.

Since no repair help is required here any more I am out, because it is not
my intention to assist in the destruction of a classic with randomly exchanged
parts.

As a side note please consider that the Kensonic boards of the time have
a problematic copper plating and today are easily damaged by soldering.

This is not the case. The R channel audio board was not functioning and the problem was Q6. After replacing Q5 and Q6 with BC414 the tuner was back to work but I'd like to restor the original fashion. Unfortunately I did not found original components till now. (2SC1416 and 2SA776)
I am really interested to restor the original T 100 with original components.
Fortunately some ELNA axial capacitors are still available as well as the PSU ELNA capacitors, only in case I have to replace tem.
