Have you ever tried to touch the 2 electrods of your car battery??? Don't try that! very harmful!
ya normally 300amps in a car batt, 4x4's have about 450-600amps in their batts, some trucks 1200! lol, there is an old trick u can do on those but im not going to tell ya as its stupid and dangerous lol.

The best bulb to use for light output and heat wise on these small lcds u guys are using is a cdm-t, they are small and whack out 13500lumens, they also have a higher colour temp of 4200k, most last 6000hrs, but if u get the GE brand of the cdm-t they last for 12000hrs, a 250w hqi behind one of these lcd's, oh my now u are in brightness heaven.

hay ace, i cant find that bulb u sugested, is it halo or MH? generally this whole discussion has been on halo's so i hope it is, can u please link us to somewhere with them so i can then try finding them in the uk.
Thanks,

Heya Ryan, its a metal halide, forget the halogen, they are crap, i used to use them myself, and after moving to the metal halide, i wouldnt go back even if you paid me to.
This place here sells them in the UK.

Give them a ring, the number is at the bottom.
btw, its the bulb at the top of the list.

no offece but i refuse to goto MH because it will cost like £100+ just for 1 lamp and ballast, it just seems rediculous to me, and when are you going to get a good enought digital camera to take the pics of your projector?? maybe u can just give us a few new ones to admire for a while for now 🙂 you projector really does look great tho.

Na they arent that much lol 16pounds for the lamp, 2 pounds for the socket and i think 14pounds for the ballast, the ballast might have been 25 but im sure it was 14. Not bad for a bright lamp thats cold, bright, eficient and has a whiter colour temp, trust me, its worth it, and will be cheaper then buying bulbs that last 1khrs all of the time. The cdm-t also has a built in uv filter so it saves damage to the lcd.
As for the cam, yeah im broke bud, got too manny bills latley, ill post up some new updates soon, ive been fooling with the light engine on a enhancment im doing that makes it even brighter again, there are a few new things ive done on it in that way, the light box has had a redesign too.

yeah, that's why I've posted my results (and started this thread!), I know MH are much more efficient and durable then Halo, but I found the way of dichroic, and I'm really happy! 'cause who wants to build a small setup without spending too much money could try this out, and find the right infos in this thread in the future!😀
So lets go on experimenting dichroic-halo way!😎

£32 for everything!?!?! i find that hard to beleive but if u think so go on then.... show me, i may be convinced to change, but uhh i have to pay back my sis first coz she lent me the money for my new lcd, 🙂 shes the best.
Cheers,
Ryan Edge
edit: just seen disa's post and its a good point, this probly should stay halo, coz i mean if we find a good halo way where people can same money it would be great right?

heya Disa, yeah my first was halogen, it performed realy well, the colour was out though and the lcd ran hot, so i sold it lol, made a good profit and started my new one with metal halide, either way im tempted to get a small lcd again like a 5inch just too fool around with lol, they realy arent that bad for tv and for $60 u cant go wrong having a second big screen tv that has a inbuilt tunner.

yeah, thats right Trev.. It's the same result I'm looking for!
I'm also thinking about building up a serious business on a cheap projector-prototype.. Have you ever thought about how many people want to buy a projector and can't afford it? ok, we are proud DIYers, but we are few
..
I'm writing a business-plan (I'm graduating in Economics at university) to propose to a venture capitalist (seed-financing)..maybe it would be a good business idea!

Nope, unless your talking about that mess i have on the spare chair in the corner here lol j/k.

I can design you one for a 5inch lcd in about 1-2days lol, talking about bussiness, dont be fooled by the work load, its hard, the workload is high, it may look simple but its not, time is the biggest factor and you will need money to invest into the venture along with contacts ect for the right parts on the cheap.

i know two people that would like me to make them projectors for about £50 but i'm just too impatitent with my own stuff so i make it slopy, but thats my only problem, i can make some really nice stuff, when i get it back i'll show u my GCSE tech project its a tool box for my rc car but it looks fairly nice even if i hurried it a bit.

yeah, I know..But I have some contacts around th world, I contacted a factory in HK that could build up the "heart" of projector (panel+controller S-video, AV inputs, TFT 5,6" 230.000 pxels not RGB, I mean real, not dividing by 3..) for little bucks, I have here an industrial designer friend of mine and an electronic engeneer..pretty good group..well, I will give a try and propose this to some investment companies, who knows..
If you can design a good 5,6" progect, well, we can become business partners!😀

i would imagen you were talking to ace about designing because i'm usless at it, it takes me almost a year to end up with a really cool design. lol, youdnt mind having a go at it tho, maybe i will post somthing at a later date.

ok I found a very nice lamp locally, but Disa' s 60000 cd lamp is doubling this 🙂
Rated volts 12 V
Rated wattage in Watts 75 W
Beam angle in degrees 8 °
Luminous intensity in candela 30000 cd
30000 cd = not 30000 lumen I know but it could be close.
