The math doesnt lie and what it says with Global negative feedback you can use anything you could ever imagine for the output stage, the worse the better, so long as it is sufficiently biased and has sufficient input impedance. Global negative feedback cannot fix crossover distortion. The output stage has to be adequately biased for feedback magic to take over. I know someones asking wheres the math for class D? Its the same math however focus now shifts from bias to the switching frequency and how fast those outputs can switch, if the switching frequency is 500kHZ can those outputs switch at 5Mhz? Class AB and class D seem to be staying a little longer.

Any amplifier measurement can be a fad if taken in isolation. Measurements are snap shots in a window frame of a bigger picture, there could exist excitement outside that frame.
