Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

jonners, thanks for the quick response.
I'm aware of the advantage of a external DAC, but I just wanted see how Moode compares to the other Players.
So I have to switch to my Pi Zero for this....
(P.S. I already sent an answer, but it doesn't seem to show up, so, please indulgence for evtl. double-posting...)

Hello,
I am trying Moode audio, I have installed it two times but each time when I go in configuration settings browser hangs waiting for a reply that never come.
I restart mpd and I retry but without luck.
On moode.log I do not see anything interesting.
Can you please help me?
Thanks,
Mario

thanks for calling me a idiot.!
if you can not behave maybe diy audo is not for you.
diy audio is about helping each other.
I followed the same steps as you did and for 2 days a got an error but yesterday it worked.
There are more people having the same errors

I didn’t call you an idiot. You didn’t factor into my post - I’ve no idea who you are.

Don’t be petulant.

Did you build the latest version of Moode? If so, are you sure you waited long enough for the process to complete?

Hi,

While waiting for the newest version, I tried installing on a Tinker Board.
Instead of the TinkerOS, which seems to have a lot of issues, I tried Armbian.
I skipped the rotary encoder and wiring pi, which I think won't work anyway, and could not install udisks-glue, which did not seem to have a package. I went as far as compiling gettext, libconfuse, dbus-glib to compile it but still got an error so gave up. Gmusic also did not want to install. The rest seemed to install well enough.

Anyway, I went ahead with the manual build. While the GUI show information etc. configuration commands did not work, so I set up mpd.conf etc manually. I could play songs from Lumin app, and Airplay works as well. As these are actually just the two functions I use, it was good enough for me. As the heatsink was too tall for a HAT DAC, I used an ifi USB DAC and has been playing nicely all day.

The Tinker Board is in many respects better than the RPi, faster CPU, more RAM, faster ethernet, which made the installation much faster than the RPi, and it sounds nice too. The kernel Armbian uses seems to be RT Preempt.

pi@moode:~$ uname -a
Linux moode 4.13.16-rockchip #19 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 24 19:34:54 CET 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Cyclic tests show results comparable with the moOde 3.8.4 and the Raspbian kernel I compiled some time back.

I have not yet delved fully on how the PHP works, but for starters, I guess if a working debian distribution could be built, who knows we could see a fully working moOde on Tinker Board in the future?

Just a potshot at a POC 🙂

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm a complete newbie, and I got the install to work first time, I did it all on my mac via ssh. The only change to the instructions in build was that I had to use PI@<IP ADDRESS> instead of PI@moode.

The only small issue I'm having is that the Airplay renderer doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Menu - Audio - AirPlay Receiver On - Restart AirPlay
Works for me. Are you using Apple devices?

@kolakidd

Did you remember to click "Set" after you pushed the AirPlay Receiver slider to "On"?

I have no Apple equipment and am not running iTunes on any PCs, so I can't easily stream music to the receiver, but I just tried turning on the AirPlay Receiver and my moOde Player immediately showed up on my LAN.

From a Linux host
Code:
$ avahi-browse -at
+ wlp3s0 IPv6 DB39323A954C@Moode Red Airplay AirTunes Remote Audio local
+ wlp3s0 IPv4 DB39323A954C@Moode Red Airplay AirTunes Remote Audio local

I get more detailed results using ZeroConf Browser on my Android phone, including
Code:
DB39323A974C@Moode Red Airplay
_raop._tcp.local.moode-red.local:5000
/192.168.1.240

Looks like it's good to go here.

In the Anglo-Saxon world...

My apologies, thought it was a worldwide forum, que je suis con ! (not a french insult, good kind words even if there is an insult inside...) =)

If that’s too hard for you, maybe diy audio isn’t for you.

Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated. Oh my this was serious! My bad. 😉
Ok I resell my soldering stuff speakers, amps and DACs, a voice from above said some should stop annoying here.

Sorry snowflake. It’s not all about you.

Snowflake to a black guy?!
Right now I don't want to comment... ...I may be wrong...

Am I mistaken?! It's not an insult in anglo-saxon world?

Oh my... this IS an insult.

Mind that you were to say the least a bit harsh. Korean or not we all deserve respect here. End of the story.

@goldhorse

Glad to hear the result is useful to you.

Soon after the manual recipe was released, I tried building moOde on Armbian on a Cubox-i4Pro. Why? Because it and several other SBCs were sitting on my bench gathering dust after a long-ago project. I hit the same bumps as you. Didn't pursue it further. RPis work great, cost half to a quarter as much, and have a great selection of reasonably priced DAC Hats available.

And I second your sentiment for the holiday season!

@TheOldPresbyope
Thanks, I did set the slider to on and have double checked it is on a few times.

@aBrianH
I've tried both, neither worked.

It's strange because other than that the install is working perfectly.

Not sure what kind of Mac you have, but a bonjour browser should show what services are running - there’s a bunch for Mac, iPad, iPhone,etc.

For what it’s worth, after my recent build B12 worked first time on all my apple devices.

The only thing other than turning on airplay and configuring my dac that I’ve done is to turn of Bluetooth - i don’t have anything Bluetooth I want to use with Moode.

Okay sometimes you just need to come clean with the stupid.

I went through the instructions again and I left out an important bit... I noticed the build text file hadn't loaded completely, and only when I opened it in TextWrangler did I see all the instructions. Airplay is working 100%

Well in the spirit of Christmas, I hope you can forgive me for the time wastage.

Hello
I need help with the step by step installation for Moode 4.0

I have executed the
Code:
sudo ./mosbuild.sh
commands.

After the installation, I should remove the USB stick.
then restart I'm back to the beginning.

How do I get to Step 2?

Thank you.

If it is possible a manual would be great in German.

Thank you
