This is what 250 LM3886T/NOPB look like fresh from Mouser. I now have more LM3886es in stock than any of the major North American distributors. 🙂 They will soon find new homes in the Modulus-686, -286, and -186 modules.
I expect to have a small handful of MOD686 assembled modules in stock by the end of the weekend.

Why mouser? You could get them from ebay/china much cheaper and guaranteed fake!😀

Ain’t nuthing fake about the watts I heard coming outta the 686 with genuine parts, so I’ll stick with the high priced spread
Life's too short for fake parts. That's why I go through the distributors. Mechanical bits, such as machine screws, I get at McMaster-Carr (who now ships from Canada!). My PCBs are made in Ontario, Canada and assembled here in Calgary. The assembly place is a 15-minute drive from my house. The aluminum brackets and back plates are made in Nova Scotia, Canada. Sensing a theme? 🙂

OK, after spending a couple of hours building the inductors for my 4xMod86 build and thinking they sort of look like what Tom’s inductor photo looks like, but nowhere near as nice looking. I will most likely buy the premade ones with my 686 boards.
Yeah... I don't miss winding inductors. Others find them convenient as well. In fact, I'm almost out. I think I have 20 left that aren't reserved for the MOD186/286 build.
Unfortunately that means I'll run out of inductors before the end of November. I ordered 500 (yes, five hundred!) 2-3 weeks ago. They'll be ready by the end of January. Yep. Three month lead time. Grr!
Now, of course this means I may be out of the SMD pre-populated MOD686 board option by the time the inductors show up. The joy of inventory management. 🙂 I've set up my website to allow backorders of the inductors, so there's always that option. I'll fill your order when the inductors come in.
But at least for now, everything Modulus-686 related is in stock. 🙂

..I’m missing a good DAC in this system, which is limiting somewhat in truly assesing it’s performance. But the first listening impressions of the Mod686 have been very good...
...as a DIY enthusiast it makes me happy that yet another component in my set was assembled by myself...
Was lately guided to below objective review site when tomchr posted he have shipped a Neurochrome HP-1 (headphone amp) over to them, in that regard stumbled over those relative great objective numbers for that inexpensive 99 buck DAC in below link, okay it lacks ballanced output but cost verse its benched numbers and that you can assemble your own unit could maybe be of interest or fill in as a temporary upgrade, also by the way thanks for the detailed interesting build story it was great reading.

Very nice, and very pro looking. Great to see that you've taken customer feedback and incorporated that into your module mounting solution. Whole assembly of aluminum back-plate and clamps should make customer installation more easy and foolproof. The blue clamps also go well visually with the blue PCBs. 🙂

Looks nice indeed.
What about giving the option of ordering vertical connectors or at least ordering without the connectors assembled. A lot of recent builts used the vertical ones for space reasons. One could even use the gold plated ones if one so desires. I know inventory challenge and the like ...
My two cents.
Clamps are definitely a good thing and great looking too.
