banned
What did those guys do to get banned? They are very good audio people. I have learned a lot from them. I think the forum will miss them.😕

Re: banned
Not to worry, they are at work/play in another forum that appears to go unnamed at this one.
From reading their posts at this forum I can see how they may be regarded as abrasive or contentious, I presume this has been considered along with their creative contributions and enthusiasm in the decision to ban them here.

To whom it may concern,
Can I just say that it saddens me to hear that Carlos, Elso, Jocko, Pavel and others have been banned from this forum. Whatever they did ultimately the forum is the loser, for the knowledge and experience they were wiling to share with us mortals is now gone too. I for one have learnt a great deal from them.
A sad day indeed.

Ofcourse you may!
PS. Pavel was not banned. He was put under moderation (for reasons not related to the recent housecleaning). After he was put under moderation he chose not to return to us, which is fair enough.
Pavel changed his mind pretty quickly.......Bas Horneman said:After he was put under moderation he chose not to return to us
HOUSECLEANNING????
Ban CarlosFm and many others that have lots of knowledge and aways post great things here, helping everyone that see their posts is nice to you!?? Is it cleanning?? Banning good members, means housedirting, because if you do like this, in the end will just left some members that don't help the "house".
Yes, I'm a little pissed off ...
I can not understand why you had banned Carlos... I never saw he posting things against the rules, and he aways were very educated and respectful. I'm pretty new here, and I learned a lot with carlos, a lot. For me, there's no reason to ban him.

Please, I'd like to ask you to show me some posts from Carlos, that isn't adequate here at the forum, then I'll not do the same. Maybe I saw some posts from him that I consider adequate but it isn't, as I need this forum, I want to be a good member.

You are a good member. 🙂
Even if we were to make a list of all the posts....there would be a plethora of reasons for finding those posts innocent and Carlos not worthy of banning. Therefore I would like to refer to our announcement :
"diyAudio is a privately supported international forum where people of all skill levels and experience can discuss audio ideas and projects.
There was a very small group of people who made a consistent effort to undermine the diyAudio environment and became a corrosive force that made the forum a less appealing and useful place. We became convinced that they had no interest in any constructive efforts so some members were banned from the forum. Others may follow. Additional members have been placed under moderation and we hope that they will choose to contribute in a more positive way in the future. These decisions were reached only after careful collective consideration by all moderators."
There is only one thing I would like to add. When we say careful consideration we mean it.
I'll tell you what I think is making it a less appealing and useful place, its the moderating, that’s why I don’t hang out here any more, this place is second only to Audio Asylum in poor moderation.
Audio Asylum has no moderation until it gets really nasty and then its uneven handed, this place is the opposite, it seems like the moderators have too much time on their hands to scrutinize what they thing someone’s intent was then its very biased and uneven handed. I’ve seen stuff that got put in Texas for absolutely no reason what so ever. Moderation should only be here to keep things civil and respectful IMO, yet a long list of disrespectful and inflammatory posts are allowed and someone responding to these in a controlled manor is singled out and temporally banned while the offending post is left alone, and I’m not even talking about me, I’ve seen it many times here in the past years.

Hmmmm I hadn't been around for a while so can't comment on recent activity, but I will say that though Carlos did contribute valuable content to diyaudio, I would also say that he could be rather malicious (at times seemingly unprovoked).
I think that he was a little paranoid, and often read things into others posts, that I from an outsiders point of view really didn't think were there, he could then be quite vicious towards the person he thought (rightly or wrongly) was having a go at him.
Text based communication can so easily be misinterpreted because of the lack of visual and tonal clues that we have with face to face communications.
I think a lot of the time the problem was that some of Carlos' claims were very big, with little technical info to back them up (more a case of It sounds better, backed up by other members who tried the same and also reported it sounds better), some members would understandably question this, and then he would take it personally, often attacking them viciously (IMO) for asking questions that anyone working in a scientific way would expect, and have to deal with.
Anyway that's my take on things, as to whether or not he should be banned I can't say......
Tony.

is singled out and temporally banned
First, thank you very much to consider me a Good Member ! 😀
Yes. I think this is a nice thing. Everyone deserves a second chance. Ban temporally and then Ban definitive... Well, who am I to suggest rules here?

I think there's many people that did a great work and contribuited lots to this forum, and because of some things that I think (I don't know) they were not warned, then were banned without explanations and any chance to change their posture and come back here, being a good member again... 🙁
Nothing that I'm saying is going to change anything, I know... But, I'm just showing my point of view.
I'd like to ask you, to warn me because of anything that I may have done wrong, please. Once again, this forum is really important to me, and I don't want to be banned or not well acepted here 🙂
Thank you !
nando,
Although I will absolutely not respond concerning individual cases here, almost always people banned have been warned multiple times, have had inappropriate posts deleted, been under moderation, (posts monitored before being allowed to be seen by members) and spent time in the sin bin (a short banning usually for a few days ). So, almost all members banned have had many second chances to change their ways. Because we delete some posts, often members don't see the really offensive ones that cause these punishments.
If none of this above has happened to you it is very, very unlikely you would be banned!

Hmmm, now the things are clear ! 🙂 I thought that they were banned without any second chances or without be warned !
Thank you for all the explanations !

At least one of the recently banned members had never once been in the sinbin. I checked.
The recipients Other bannings have been named in the sin bin thread. Why not those of the latest "housecleaning"?
I'd like to know what specific infractions were committed that justify each of these latest bannings. "Undermining" could pretty much mean any negative or critical behaviour. Must we be "Stepford audiophiles" to be free from the worry of being banned?
Edit: I changed the last sentence to clarify my concern.
Resistance is futile. All your base are belong to us.
Indeed, it's possible to be banned without having been warned first. But you have to really work at it.

In this case, why can't we know what work was "put in" to justify the bans? The sin bin thread is loaded with names and justifications for bans. Why is this precedence not adhered to in this case?
