was on a business trip for the last few days and couldn't take any look at diyaudio.
Now I saw the sinbin thread updated:
Jean-Paul wrote on November 27th:
quote:
Till is one week in Sin Bin as he needs a cool down badly.
SY wrote on November 28th:
quote:
Till has been banned due to repeated abusive and bigoted language, and a failure to respond to repeated moderator directives.
Can a moderator explain how a sinbinned member can be banned one day after being sinbinned and before "waking up" from sinbin? He could not have posted in his "abusive and bigoted language" during his short sinbin, could he?
Thanks for a short answer.
Ciao, Tino
Tino,
We first decided to sinbin him. And later on decided that Till was incorrigible and therefore to ban him. Generally he might still get a chance to come back under certain conditions (if he would want to come back ofcourse).
Cheers,
Bas

I get tired of having to bring up these issues... And don't try to tell me that I have never brought any of this up before with you guys before. I will dump all the dirt in public if I hear that crap again.
You have brought this up before, and you have specifically been asked to supply something besides inuendo, but all we've seen so far is hot-air.
You have accused mods of commercial activity in group buys where they shouldn't -- we have examined each one (all we could imagine since some of the comments were never specific enuff for us to do more than guess & then any others we could find, mod or not) and found none cross the line -- the ones you seem to complain about most were money losing for the person putting it together, and the ones that were hugely successful (and would have been profit generating if the profit had not been donated back to diyAudio.com or the participants in the group buy) didn't even seem to hit your radar. The centre of the latest bru-ha-ha, digi's group buy is certainly not commercial, but is the 1st wildly successful group buy to hit someone's radar.

1.) I wasn't talking about SY........Dan asked for comments, I sent him some, and he never responded.
2.) Do I have to post the private e-mails that I have received from a moderator asking me to be part of something that amounts to theft?? Don't try to pull this "only innuendo" nonsense. I told you what he did, and you tried to blow it off. Ditto for SY. Half the forum seems to know about it, so don't try to pretend it is some secret enigma.
3.) As long as you have any moderators who are here to peddle their wares, this problem will not go away. I have told you that, and you seem reluctant to accept it.
So much for the idea that this is all news to one of you guys...........
I have no problem with 98% of the moderators. Most of us don't even know who they are. It is only 1 or 2 rotten apples. Why you stand up for them is a mystery to all of us.

We got your email. It was promptly dealt with. If you have further evidence or other complaints please send them thru.Jocko Homo said:Recently, one of our fearless leaders said that if anyone had any gripes to send them to him. I did. But please send them by private email to me.

There are no mods that are here to do that (althou there are mods that have things to peddle -- myself included --
here in the AVB)

Tino, when members respond to moderator actions by abuse-filled emails, that's unacceptable behavior. Mods are members first, and no member of this forum should be subjected to that sort of invective.
Giving credit where credit is due.......
And sticking up for the Mod Squad when they deserve it......
When I have received vulgar & obscene e-mail, via the forum e-mail service, the mods took care of it the way it needed to be handled.
If any of you guys out there have done the same to them, then I would expect them to deal with it in exactly the same manner. And it appears that they did.
Tough!
(Actually, I am surprised how little I have received..........) [joke]

Most of the really nasty stuff you get from me!
(Edit: Tim, it really makes me grumpy to have to manually edit out naughty words from public posts. Please don't do that again.)

Oh sorry, didn't know that was unacceptably bad

WHY has this thread been moved to 'Off Topic' ???
Question raised by Jam in post #500.
No answer yet, as with a lot of questions asked in this thread.
Possible explanations:
Could be overlooked, to many questions and lack of structure to administer them, and mod discipline/attitude to improve the member satisfaction ratio, ....
Could be beacuse don't like the mods don't like the questions, and can't move or delete all posts,
Could be that this the dirty linnen is kept private, as 'Off Topic' is only accessible for the members.
Could be that the mod started this thread has been 'down graded', ...
What ever it might be it shows, the mods are 'fearless' unanimous about this issue.
No cracks spotted yet!!!

I have learnt during my stint as moderator, that the "problems" are almost always caused by the same gang.mod discipline/attitude to improve the member satisfaction ratio
Also many members are affected by the constant complaining...and it affects their diyAudio experience, negatively I might add.
By moving this thread off-topic we get the best of both worlds. The folks that complain can have a dialogue with the mod crew. And the rest are spared the bickering.
Cheers,
Bas

"A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude
and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted,
"Excuse me, can you help? I promised a friend I would meet him
an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The woman below replied, "You are in a hot air balloon hovering
approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and
41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west
longitude."
"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.
"I am," replied the woman. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically
correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information,
and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so
far."
The woman below responded, "You must be in management."
"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"
"Well," said the woman, "you don't know where you are or where
you are going. You have risen to where you are, due to a large quantity
of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and
you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are
in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow,
it's my fault."

HUGO, nice joke ....
heard it long time ago, in another version:
from: http://www.jokemania.com/funny-jokes/13.professional-jokes/497.lost-in-the-baloon.html
Now for you who is the moderator and who is the critical' member'?

heard it long time ago, in another version:
from: http://www.jokemania.com/funny-jokes/13.professional-jokes/497.lost-in-the-baloon.html
Two men are flying in a captive balloon. The wind is ugly and they come away from their course and they have no idea where they are.
So they go down to 15 m above ground and ask a passing wanderer. "Could you tell us where we are?"
"You are in a balloon."
So the one pilot to the other:
"The answer is perfectly right and absolutely useless. The man must be an economist"
"Then you must be businessmen", answers the man.
"That’s right! How did you know?"
"You have such a good view from where you are and yet you don’t know where you are!"
Now for you who is the moderator and who is the critical' member'?

Haha…I like my version better. 😉
I basically tried to answer your question with a joke:
Let me add another question. Do you think that we moderators are responsible for the well being of the members?
Post #500 was made by Pinkmouse. So please point us to Jam’s question.

Hugo, ...
, for your version of the joke, very creative!! (I like that). To bad however I didn’t get the message ("It's unfair, they are big and I am small").
Nonetheless thanks for your persistency, and simply asking me your question (Hat off, no joke this is serious).
Do you, in your role as mod, sufficiently ask questions? Do your colleague mod, sufficiently ask questions? How many questions have mods raised in this thread? …. When can a question properly be answered or a (mis)deed fairly judged?
What commands more esteem and consideration a question or the statement of an opinion or judgement?
So by now you should have some hints to who you are talking. 😉
Your question:
NO (thanks god) the mods are not responsible for the well being me (and for the other members, at least I hope). I am responsible for the well being of myself and that requires more than this forum can provide. 😀
This forum is pure for hobby and enjoyment, I have no emotional relationship with it whatsoever. I can conceive there are members for which that is not the case, due to for instance great efforts (rightly or not) put into this forum.
Henk.
PS. IMO nobody belongs in a sin-bin (it is an admission of weakness of this forum (mods and members)), and especially guys like Pedja, and Carlos that have a relevant message (definitely, not an act out of self-interest). Is it an idea to put a member under moderation again (like a newbie).

change of subject??
Hi Mods,
If you would be so kind could you please change the subject of this thread I started. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47806
to maybe "new project, some questions" and bump it...... I'm starting to feel neglected 😉
I am of course assuming that this will make a difference
