Right. There for a moment I thought you might be talking about absolute phase. Throughout prototyping, testing and measuring, I consistently maintained the two drivers out of phase. Have you ever heard out-of-phase drivers, particularly when using noise as a signal? Give it a try. You might be surprised how easy it is to detect this condition.

Obviously you don't give a tidly about my opinion, and I can assure you that my feelings are mutual. I had purchased the the W5-1611's in hopes that they would sound like the little brothers to the W8-1772 they appeared to be. At the time, I was working with the FE167E and FF165WK. Compared to either, the W5 just sounded awful. While I hate the term, for a lack of better, the W5's have very poor DDR. There is much more to a good driver than a flat on-axis FR.

At least I bought the W5's before the neo price jump, so I was able to sell them for what I had in them.

After a few hours listening the W4's have loosened up, the 1st loudspeaker was allready broken in so after I finished the 2nd loudspeaker the not-broken-in one sounded less laidback and more honky. This disappeared after a few hours and the stereo-image got better and better.
I really love these speakers, they sound very detailed and transparant but also warm, amazing feat. The ambient tweeter really enhances the soundfield and the transparancy. My floorstanders had the vifa ringradiators but I like the sound of this approach better 😎
The W4 gives that typical fullrange quality without suffering on either end of the spectrum with the help of the small 16mm dome and the passive radiator.
The quality of the bass is maybe what I like most of these loudspeakers, bassresponse is very clear and accurate/articulate, I play bass myself so I know how it should sound. The bass is also better then the floorstanders I had before, pretty amazing.
Last but not least, they also have that long-listening quality to the sound, they never fatigue 😉
