It was not Akihabara but yes.
There are original 2sk117 not become very expensive yet.

Congrats, Tamra.Thank you Salas!
Building finished successfully.
DCB1 sounding very good.
When I've listened to my-ex DCB1 build after a long hiatus (it's now at my friends), it sounded so mighty fine.
Nostalgic even. Nice to read it works for you too.
I also remember my hunt for 20k pot in Akihabara with your help.
After browsing their thick paper catalogues, the sellers were telling me 20k could only be custom ordered at double, triple the price.
No other brands were available in 20K either. I came to conclusion, it was an unusual pot value in Japan.
Cheap, but very, very interesting pot to try is DACT resistor stepped type one https://www.ebay.com/itm/192105859271
Superior interchannel matching. If you are interested and willing to experiment I have a spare one and could send it your way.
Thank you for your offer but Alps Rk27 and Tocos have 20k also.
I will try 10k vilab stepped ladder I cleaned inside.

Tocos is cleaner than the RK27 but some samples have compromised stereo tracking at low volume settings. Worth trying nonetheless as it offers very good value for sound vs price.
CoolThank you for your offer but Alps Rk27 and Tocos have 20k also.

I tried TKD 2cp2508-s 50k,Tocos RV30yg 20k,
and Valab 23 stepped attenuator 10k.
TKD is smooth and musical sound.Somehow bass is not good.Is it because 50k?
Tocos has best bass but sounds hash and brighter at middle. It has more 3D details but no smoothness.
I found Tocos have made magnetic enclosure so that It sounds iron like.
Valab 23 stepped attenuator is in between TKD 50k and Tocos 20k.Good bass, not too bright.
I think high frequency have a little hashness.
Not sure it comes from connection or picking noise or resistor(RN55).
TKD is for me. Less details but smooth and warm, no tiring.
I might to try 10k 2cp2511(70usd) or 2cp2508s (100usd)has shield between R and L channel.

I found cheap good reviewed volume pot here
http://www.alpha-product.net/en/product/Rotry Potentiometer/R16 Serials/589/It's only 1.4USD but sounded very good.
From reviews, better than RK27 and tkd601 pot
But there are some failure ones and L and R channel difference that I agree with.
I bought 4 20kR of those, Both channel had different resistant. Three 18Kand 20K and one 19K and 20K.
This sounding nice but have similar hashness like Tocos.
I am thinking about magnetic.
Only TKD 2cp2508 is non magnetic but others are magnetic.and non magnetic TKD is not ear tirering.

Don't worry about kΩ you measure across, channel tracking is about each channel's divider dB following. Ratios to be alike.
If you have generator & oscilloscope connect two pot channels and feed them same 1kHz sine. Watching pot outputs on the screen how close they keep together as you turn.

I described best method to know your best tracking classic pots to install. For switching pots with discreet resistors no need. Tracking's guaranteed. By the way some of harsh can also be effect of bad tracking due to stereo image distortion.
Hi can I use schottky as flyback diodes, will I gain something versus the uf4007 i have in stock ?
Thank you.
Thank you.
You can use any 1A type that physically fits. But no, you don't gain something with special diodes.
Hi,
As I was reading threads about DCB1 building, I noticed that in the plus power section, the connections to T6 (one of the 2SK170BLs) are different among several schematics I came across in those threads. Is there any particular reason that T6 is connected in various ways?
Thank you!

Yes there was a reason of deliberate CCS asymmetry for aiding offset & THD profile tuning in low bias initial Mezmerize.
Here's the same area from TYA's prototype test board. It looks like the wiring in Hypnotize-2 as it should. Apparently there's a bug line in the TYA theoretical. Was possibly done during the presentation schematic editing from the previous Mez. But not wrong in the actual TYA board. The board was tested before all.
