Memphis 16-MC1000D Ground Short (Newbie 1st Post)

Were the original FETs the N-version? In the photos I have, the non-N version was used. They may work but I'm not 100% sure.

The Rdson is what it is for a given FET part number.

The N has nothing to do with the PBF. PBF means lead (Pb) free.

The N type FET has different specs than the non-N. They are sometimes interchangeable, sometimes incompatible.

The PBF is perfectly fine. They quit using lead and in Europe. They won't allow the older (leaded) components to be sold there so everyone moved to PBF.

The N is what you need to avoid (unless someone can tell you definitively that they will work in this model amp.

If you're not using this site, you should be to find the parts.

Hi Perry.

Finally received and installed the new 9640 and 640 fets this weekend.
I checked them on my handheld tester and all the values were with specs.

Amp is no longer running hot at idle and under load. I've tested it on my atx psu 12v(32a max).
Next is to install and run it in my car.

Thanks again for helping me through my first repair and providing your guidance and expertise. Much appreciated.
