Yep, i think so :s
Il call it an 'Amazing andy's super dooper audicom PSU killer PSU' from now on.
And it works like a dream
😀
Fitted a 7V nuvotem tx for display, used a 10ohm res to get my 3.6v for the tube heaters.
Its running at 220mA and the resistor and tx is running very cool.

It's nice to see you have put tube heaters in your player brent, just to keep the baby 63 nice and warm. Awwww 😉
I'm sitting on campus at the moment, and have found a skip outside civil engineering with a large quantity of aluminium plates about 2mm thick. Each one is about 500x100mm. I'm going for a raid when im done in the lab and will bolt these onto the bottom of the chasis for some extra weight. BOSCH !!!!!

Nice one on that aluminium sheet. Try to bond it if you can too
Brent
Well in my rush and sillyness, i didn't really analyze the sheet properly. It certainly wasnt Al as it was far too shiny and HEAVY. It's stainless steel, and i tried to carry 7 sheets of it home from campus 😱
I had to switch carrying hands every 20m or so, and i think carrying them home has lengthened my arms by a good foot 😀
I'm still going to get even more today!
Well it's good to see that my materials engineering studies are going somewhere 🙂
With bonding it to the underside of the chassis il might try some araldite, as that stuff is godly, but acquiring a large amount might not be cheap, and i can't remember how quickly it will harden, so getting the plate on quick enough my be a problem.

Excellent, Araldite hardens depenging on the mixture used.

Hi
Try 'No More Nails' - it will bond the steel to steel and is also slightly flexible - cheaper too.
Andy
dam ribbon cable
bent ribbon cable a bit (flattened out)
been playing for 5 to 6 tracks no problem.
(proves the tent clock is ok)
allan
Ps not game wiggle cable to see if it drops out
just enjoy the music😀
PPs 16mHz square wave is not shown to well on a 20mHz scope

question
When you replaced flat cable with coax
did you use coax into a plug or solder onto pcb?
if plug what connector do you suggest?
allan
ps still playing (hasn't stopped yet 😀 )

How do go about disassembly for new mods?

I just undo the RF pcb from the mech. Two screws and the laser ribbon.

I must admit, i only took the mech out once.😀
2 screws and the pcb is off might be the easiest way than fitting plugs.
except how long wll the laser ribbon last?

Depends how careful you are!!! 😀
I did coax mod as one of the later mods to avoid problems

I have got this KI running with custom TX upgraded caps , crystal , regs , HDAM bypass , Burr Brown opamps (will change to OPA627 soon).
Its running superbly well. The cdp has PRAT good bass and very clean accurate treble. I am very suprised with the outcome of this mod.
Anybody who wants to do the reg upgrade, look at this and see how easy it is. I have used LM1084 which are lower noise than 7805.
It will be sold soon 😀
