OK, knowing what you know now with all the mods done to a 67/63, How would you build a new one from scratch? Which mods would you implement and which ones would you leave out?
I have another cd63 that I want to mod, and take my time this time around. My previous player broke down before I was able to install Ray's DOS and FLEA. Hopefully I can get a good scope on the used market early next year and get it back up on its feet. It only had a few regs and lm4562 bypassing the HDAM.

Hi Wendell
I would do everything I did until now but I would also regulate the servos, do the coax mod, regulate the power line to the mech, update the DOS as it´s last version and reduce the front panel brightness.
The major difference would be the order in witch I would do the mods.
Basically, follow Ray´s list of mods and than start adding sregs, clocks DOS etc.
Awsome! And yes, a big thanks to Ray, and Brent and everyone else. I would be ashamed to show you mine...it's so modest in comparison.
Slightly off-topic but since it is tethered to my '67, I just got my custom ICE amp back from it's second session with Wyred in California. Totally superlative service and workmanship as always. This time he replaced all the caps with Blackgates and all the relevant resistors with the new Vishay S foils. I've never had Blackgates in amplification (there are some in the 67' though) circuit so I don't know what to expect. I hope not an endless burn-in. No I don't know which ones he used but it wasn't cheap. At the moment the midrange is a bit raw but everything else sounds very clean and extended. Sorry to go off topic but just wanted to share with whom my cdp communicates with. Y'all keep up the good work! Sometime this winter I will send my machine to Brent for some more S'regs and whatever else I can afford.

AVR300 supereged machine:
That was a walk down memory lane. It's a lone time since the old lady has spun a shiny disc.
Did you eventually buy the pink soldering iron - and does she know how to solder yet ? 😀

No, not yet, but she seems to have a preferred interest in anything with wires, LED lights or switches 🙂. The CD drawer is particularly appealing. I wonder where she got that from...

I was doing my wish list for the next bout of upgrades and i noticed something about co-ax mods. I missed what this is exactly. Changing the ribbon connectors? Can someone clue me in please?
Party's going on here 🙂 Well done!
Not at all! 😉
Ricardo the one in the picture was my first CD53, sold years ago,
this is the one I've done for a friend with my first tiny DOS and a lunatic clock:

Was built with the best bang/buck/work and it's defo a great player!
If needed the steps are shown here: http://atsh.free.fr/MarantzCDx3/
My CD43, older pic not showing the OsCons and the SuperRegs. Output caps are now just like my friend's one a cheap MKP boosted with a Teflon capacitor.

That is MaTThieu's splendid sounding machines 😉
I like that woody integrated disc station!
The main coax mod is the HF signal's one, to R505.

Even my fried CD53 wich I did not take a pic of? 😉
Maybe I can re-use it to make a simple opamp based RIAA amp? If some of you know some simple project like that let me know.

Riaa amp with opamp ? 😱
You might find something in diyaudio but IMO discreet circuits sound much better.
Opamp based Riaa normally have an active equalization and this eq is placed in the feedback loop.
With discrete circuits like the Pacifique, you can use only two amplifying stages with a passive eq in between..... no global feedback and no phase rotation.
Of course this circuit has very low psrr so you really need a good psu, but it sounds much faster.

Well my integrated amp have it and is said to be nice 🙂
I wonder if I may rebuilt the one in the Yamaha A-500 amp I get for free this week, MM and MC ability also.
I'll have a look at the Pacific anyway, seems cheap.
Thanks Ricardo for the tip!
