An ominous silence has fallen over the land. We who lurk are gasping for air on an arid plain. Maybe we should go back to the beginning and start all over?😱
Maybe that is a godd idea.....🙂
I would like to do it all over again but I am afraid if I desolder everything, I will be elected as the major pad lifter on earth 🙂

I bought a CD63 recently - but can't decide whether to mod it or scrap it.
I have a CD17 which uses the same transport (CDM12.1), so it may come in handy for spares....
I'm certainly not that impressed with the player in stock form.

If you decide to scrap it.... please PM me and I will forward you my address..... I will even pay for the shipping costs 🙂

Really? There always seems to be a few on Ebay!
If I were you I'd mod the CD17. Yes, a CD63 can be taken a long way beyond a standard or lightly modified CD17 but still, a 17 sounds quite good as standard IMO.

I have already heavily modded the CD17 🙂
Bigger PSU caps.
Oscons in the right places
Bypassed the HDAM modules
Removed muting transistors
Changed output coupling caps (yes I realise I could omit those but I was reluctant to do so)
Next step is to replace the NJM2114s - but I need to pluck up the courage to remove them (they are surface mounted). It would be nice if I could find an adapter to change the surface mount to a standard DIP socket.
I may try and solder a socket in - but I think it might lift the tracks....
Keep going, lads!
We're nearly at 15,000.
Oh, gotta keep paying attention now, I wouldn't want to miss that one! 😎

Just to get your attention and a little off topic, did anyone have a go with the PIKATRON stepup TX ?

Very useful indeed.
Thanks!
Also way off topic..... Look where I have been last weekend : Welkom op Audiopaul.nl! - De audiofiele website met setbeschrijving, muziek, reviews en meer.
Yes... that is why I stoped modding.
I stoped before I could regulate the drivers, do the coax mod, regulate the transport section, replace the cap before the main +5reg by a bigger one...
Now I am colecting inspiration before I do the DOS revamp 🙂

Have you considered moving some bits to an external box?
Like Naim do for instance?
You could seperate your power supplies perhaps...

It is quite complex because I have 6 TX inside, feeding 9 separated PSU.
Of course it could be done but it would mean a LOT of work and probably a lot of tears.... This old PCB is already too much reworked.
I would like to start over from the beginning using a fresh untouched "pacient" ....
Knowing what I know today, I would do first things first 🙂
