Hi Brent
I'm going to fit the C1 clock tonight.
Remove the Xtal and its 2 associated caps, solder the output pin of the clock into one of the holes left from the Xtal?
Is this best?
Any better way?
Cheers
Jim

Hi Jim
When fitting a clock you remove XD01 , CD02 , CD03 & RD01.
Fit the clock onto U196 or into its hole @ the dac side. Run the clock on 5V prefereably with its own reg and psu

The next cd mod for me is to try them on dac analog, as I'm still using 470uF std there.
Hi Lee
Will be interested to hear what you think.
I've decided to fit the C1 clock next, so won't be doing the amp mod to get the FK's for a week or so.
Jim
PS I'm really pleased with those 470STD's I got from you!
Thanks Brent.
Going to use the Audiocom Superreg fitted directly to the clock a la Simon. Have already cut the track at the top of the clock pcb where it narrows as you suggested.
Can't wait to report back, I know I'm not going to be disappointed.
Cheers

Must admit I was a little sceptical about the benefits, but I can honestly say the difference was night and day when they went on the opamps. They replaced the 220u Cerafines.
Must admit I did DAC digital CD05, 06 at the same time, so there was some benefit there too.
Definitely a convert now.
Jim
Anyone who says they are rubbish or too expensive have never used them. You get what you pay for i'm afraid.

There seems to be a lot of inverse snobbery riding on top of taste.
OK, we all like different things, but there's no reason to slate people for their tastes.
It's like slagging off BMW's when all you drive is a Mondeo.

Poverty vehicle

And it's really slow 🙄
When it's back from having the high lift cam fitted and its run in and re-mapped yes, but would you want to be seen in such a poverty vehicle?

Yes, as it's what's inside that counts 😎
Ok, I'm not posting off-topic anymore this morning

Ah, talk of another power supply upgrade 😉
(have a saab 900SET meself, long ago modded from 'blinkin' quick' to 'a right bloody handful' 😀 )

Hi Brentrowemeister said:I personally like the opamps powered direct with no inductance/resistance. Link them out and see what you think.
If you can leave them out and run wire from the output of the regs direct to the power rails of the opamps or even better fit the regs right next to the opamps for more improvement.
Just shorted the opamp psu inductors.. Uge gains on leading edge detail and attack... Also got more bass.

Next I will locate the sregs near the opamps.!!!
This time I had some trouble..... I replaced the ceramic cap C513 0.047 linking pins 15 and 16 of the decoder by a 150uF OsCon.
I believed that a bigger cap should help Vdd1 but I only got screetching sounds from the player

Can I use a 10uF Oscon there instead ?

I reckon a 10uF oscon will be fine. I replaced C513 with 47uF 6.3v BG Nx. That was bi-polar though, maybe that is an issue.
Cheers, Lee.
