Im moving in a few weeks to a 22' x 13' room fitted with a seagrass carpet (firing down the lenght of the room). I'm hoping the acoustics will improve drastically over my 12' x 12' room i'm in now with lamitate floor.

As Yazz said - the only way is up! I can't wait either!
What? Worked all this time and waste money and a CD6002 can beat my player?
I should have found one used then :'( I just have to hope my CD53 does better a little... but last time we said as it is it can face without shame a stock Naim CD5i!? I'm lost.
My CD53 with few mods (as I remember maybe some caps and/bypass wire... maybe AD8620) was very close to my Philips DVP5500S, wich is a magazine awarded CDP.

Your modded player will better the CD6002, don't worry!
Remember the old Marantz models were all well reviewed 10+ years ago too.
My CD63KI (with all mods) was competing nicely vs. a £1300 Naim with some mods. So bear in mind it's what you do with it that counts...

And mine competes with £2500+ cd players, some people say more. Any player modded sounds an hell of alot better than stock.
The cd6002 is a superb cd player for the money, better in most areas than the 63KI in stock form. Add a clock some nice caps , better opamps and a nice reg or two and there is only one winner.

I'm skeptical as to whether these cd63's can be beaten at all, really.
I read somewhere that there's a few ultra high-end players that use this dac chip. I would love to compare my player with an expensive stock model.
My mate has heard all-sorts over the years and he's never heard a player that even comes close to mine.
And Brent's is even better.
Lee.
16 bit players only here, lol

We heard a Naim one (£7k or so I think) in a shop that did the sorts of things Brents does, but it wasn't quite as refined I don't think. I think the Naim amps were good though.
Simon
Simon
Simon are you saying mine was more refined or the Naim (£7K with the PSU)?
Please say mine please say mine

Brent
It's hard to say due to the systems and room being different but I thought the Naim was digging up the same detail as yours, but probably not the same sweetness and smoothness as your CD63.

In your dreams sunshine !!
*My comments are based on not hearing either of them, and thus total speculation*
😀 😀 😀
If these players really are that capable then I will certainly be keeping mine for a long long time. I have been thinking of going for a matching CDP for my amp eventually, with a few mods, but what is the point of spending £1k+ when a £12 player sounds sooo good. I really need to go have some trials in dealers I don't intend to buy from then report back.
Simon has a friend who works in a dealers and hears lots of different cd players. He is also very critical of everything lol.
I also modify lots of expensive cd players £1K - £2K quite often and they just don't compare to mine now. You really have to pay alot to get anything decent.

Mine will be at the UK meet this summer 😎
I honestly think Brent's won't be beaten by anything. Nobody has done so much or spent so much on a player.... at least not that I've ever heard of 😉
Simon
I like modifying Naim cdps. The CD5i as standard is utter crap. But spend some time on it and it comes to life.
Change all the rubbish caps around the dac and regs on the draw pcb for some small BG and the it springs to life.
The old CD5 is a nice cd player also to play with

I think mine could well be the worlds most modded cd63. 😉
If i'm proven wrong then there is more to do until it is 😀

lol. Short of treating it with C37 lacquer, Rainbow Foil and Shatki Stones and deep cryo freezing it I think you've done it all mate.
(I do think you should freeze it)

Actually, physical transport mods are something you've not done much with...
And you've not peeled your caps!
